If you could help someone in your life to quit smoking, who would it be and how would you do it?

My Uncle Arthur, he lives in Ohio and smokes all the time. I am going to suggest some other ways for him to relax and relive stress other than smoking, like going for a walk or picking up yoga.

My husband. For his heart and health and for those around him.

My mother. She is 39 years old and she’s been smoking for as long as I can remember. She’s already tried stopping once, with this medicine thing. But then she stopped taking it and wanted to see if she still didn’t like cigarettes. Well, obviously she’s not because if she stopped taking the medicine, it stopped working. So she started again. But now I told her to take the medicine no matter what because my sister (21 years old) has a baby (8 months old) and they both live with us. I’d hate it if my mom would to do permanent damage to my niece’s lungs through 2nd hand smoke unintentionally.

My boyfriend quit smoking for me. I was struggling w/ eating at the time. So we did a trade. If he smoked I gave up eating for a day. Was dumb, but he sure stopped.

I would give up everything I have to make him stop. I don’t want to see him like this.

my mom died of a lung disease, not from smoking, the disease was a birth but smoking didn’t make it any better...i thought after my moms death, my dad would realize how important life is and how much we need to cherish it. Well, he doesn’t really see that, and now my brother has picked up the nasty habit as well.

i would do ANYTHING to make them quit, but getting threw to them seems impossible.
every time i see an ad on tv about quiting i turn it up and look at him with those puppy dog eyes (obvious, but not shouting it in his face)

If you truly cared about someone, you would quit making wishes about their free will.

i’d love to help, my friend. 14 years young and he’s uncontrolable.
he has to have a smoke everyday, in order to ’survive’ the day
if he doesn’t he’ll start shaking for one. its badd. and i hate to see him
like that. because i love him dearly.

My little sister. She just now started so its not too late! But she feels like its ok because four of her brothers and sisters smoke (thats all but me). And she isnt exactly headed down the right path to begin with. Its not just tobacco, its also weed and I know she drinks, at least on the weekends. Shes only 14! She can be so much better than that! I just wish she would stop and see how much she is really worth.

My brother. He smokes regular cigarettes, pot, and he drinks. He’s been cutting school, hangs with a bad crowd, and has gotten arrested for breaking and entering and theft.

He is 17.

Sometimes it’s not just free will.

There are people we love doing things that are slowly killing them. They shouldn’t be wasting their life and we shouldn’t have to worry about them wasting it.

If they aren’t going to help themselves, then we need to.

It’s like going to counseling or something.
