Thoughts on congress passing Obama’s healthcare reform bill? For it? Against it? Happy? Disappointed?

Obama/The House/Congress, you know what with their voting, passed a legislature to give more people affordable healthcare. Obviously, this was a meausre for those of us who can’t afford it. Thankfully, I have medicaid...But anything to help out us proletariat, especially those of us on the poorer end of the spectrum is a good thing. I think, anyways.

Yikes...I don’t know if this is so easy to understand...

Other groups I am in on myspace are pointing out that this bill will require people to have insurance or they have to pay a fine. Just throwing that out there for you guys since I know I am a minority on this stuff in here.

I’m against it. The government run public option would likely be run through a private insurance provider, charging premiums and co-payments like any other policy. A lot of people try to argue that the public option will look like Medicare, but it won’t. Medicare is a single program with uniform benefits, on the other hand both the "public option" and the original bill will likely be divided programs not available in all parts of the country. I don’t want a private corporation running my Health care, no thank you. And I’m not a conservative in any sense, but this plan is all bad. We need a national public health program, and we shouldn’t settle until we get it.

I haven’t read the bill yet (have any of you?) so I can’t say it’s bad or good, but I have heard a lot of things that sound problematic (like the jail time thing). I do know that I can’t afford healthcare right now, and I really need it, and I do know that are current system blows ass. I don’t think money should have to do with having healthcare. We’ll see how this pans out though.

Can you find a free doctor? He not only has to eat, but he spent a lot of money going to school.
