does anyone else find the premise of this movie completely racist? big fat black boys can make it, all they need is to work real hard at football and have a rich southern white woman take care of them...??

No, because it’s based on a true story. And it’s inspirational.
James, you could find racism somewhere in a bag of chips.

Only in the same way that the Wizard Of Oz is a midget hating movie.

You’re talking about the choice to frame the reality into a film. Not that the story itself is racist. So... Fuck off.

it does suggest that the midget community will always be held under the tight thumb of Big People oppression, whether its the paternalistic Glenda or the tyrannical Witch, and that freedom will only come from a Big Person savior like dorothy.
and dont even get me started on the racist overtones of a green-colored villain.

first off. Michael Oher is awesome.
I havent read the book, and the movie looks like it will be campy shit (sandra bullock sucks), but the dude does have an inspirational story. Lived on the street at points as a kid, never had his own bed, his mom was addicted to crack, etc and a family helped him out and he made it to bigtime college football and then to the NFL. Is it worth a movie? I dunno.

wait... are you serious?
of course the decision to "frame the reality into a film" is racist! it dramatizes and glorifies the story of white paternalism and the stereotype of escaping poverty through, of all things, football. the ONLY way it could be worse is if sandra bullock produced his rap album. and of course the saintly white woman just needs to use her fortune to help poor black kids assimilate, and learn the lesson of family (<forrest gump accent>he’s your family, protect his blind side</forrest gump>). whats the subtext of a black foster child from a broken home in the ghetto who learns the value of family from his white benefactors?? these are all racist film making choices.
