this is a strange one. 12 are dead and 31 wounded at fort hood texas. the shooter, 39 year old major malik hassan, was an army psychologist, recently re-assigned from walter reed. the reports are that the 12 dead had just returned from either iraq or afghanistan, and were shot execution style. how he could line up 12 people without them so much as putting up a fight? plus it’s just weird for an officer to carry out something like this. usually, it seems like privates or corporals dealing with post traumatic stress or something, but this guy had been stationed stateside. just weird

Not going to draw any conclusion from names.

However, if a Colonel can huff himself to death on Dust-Off (TM!) in his own quarters, then they obviously put their pants on just like us...

They just have CSMs to make sure they put them on correctly is all.

I’m not either, and I’m saving my opinion for when and if this all shakes out.

of course, and i wasn’t trying to imply that officers are any better than enlisted men, it’s just that they’re usually sipping coffee in their office, never coming close to the front lines. and usually, it’s some guy "down in the trenches" who just snaps, not a psychiatrist treating other guys for post-traumatic stress.

they say he was a recent convert to islam, and there are claims that he said muslims should rise up against america, and other officers report he had said, "maybe people should strap bombs on themselves and go to Time Square."

and u.s. law enforcement officials claim that the major came to their attention 6 months ago, due to internet postings about suicide bombings.

he also apparently dreaded that he was being deployed to iraq, which he attempted to get out of.

all the red flags....

im stationed at ft.hood and im not saying i know anything more than you but he went into house thearter and started shooting they werent lined up execution style or anything and the MAJ. is still alive not dead which was reported at first and the two others that were said to be accomplaces said that they were actually trying to stop him

all i know for sure is that it is a sad day on Ft.hood and all of those families are in our hearts and minds here on Ft.hood its sad as well to see a soldier survive the war and come home to this

The SRC is right next to a theatre.

hmm, the people on the news are retarded. they showed a satellite image, and it looked at least a few blocks away, the way they showed it.

Well the SRC is a few different buildings connected by sidewalks that run parallel to each other. The closest building is roughly 150-200 meters from the theater (as best I can remember, it’s been a year and a half since I’ve been there). But it is considerably close.

The people on the news got it wrong. As usual.

I wish that I could make people wait until more reports come in before they get their daily exercise and jump to conclusions.

At Fort Drum they now ask everyone if they have weapons in their vehicle.

How or what this is supposed to do I have no clue.

Although that was a sad excuse for English.....I think you were replying to Buck.

And yes, you can buy guns on post at Hood. And it’s one of the few posts that is working on allowing concealed carry for those that are allowed to carry concealed off post. It coulda possibly helped in this situation.
