Question for Jews living in the USA...
How come you haven’t made Aliyah to Israel yet?

Does your career require a degree? If yes, then I’m sure you can find something you may enjoy for work, or at least something to pay the bills until you find what you are looking for. So why not? Take the jump!

my job DOES require a degree, and I love what I do so I wouldn’t want to do anything else, and they don’t have any positions open for my job, and not only that my job is one of those things that is in crisis mode right now in Israel, and people with my job have to put up with CRAP and so NO THANK YOU.

The point I’m trying to make is that sacrifices should be made for all Jews to come home to Israel. This is the problem I’m seeing with Jews living in the US, they don’t want to leave their cushy lifestyles to make Aliyah. In the meantime, the Arabs are producing like Rabbits over here. Israel can use the help, JEWS COME HOME!

Don’t get me wrong, I do understand there are some in active situations that won’t allow them to make the trip. But... considering that the government of Israel will pay for everything to make the move, why not?

Personally I don’t believe that every Jew has to make Aliya solely because they are Jewish. I honestly recognize that the life here is not for everybody, and I wouldn’t want people living here who don’t believe with all their heart that this is the place and the life for them.
On a side note - why did you only address the question to Jews in the States? Is Aliyah not as important to you for Jews from other countries? Where do you differentiate and why?

excuse me?
I should go to a foreign country where I KNOW I will not have a job?
what the hell would I live off of, if I wasn’t working???
that is the stupidest thing I have heard in awhile
going to live in a place where I can’t be employed is NOT making a sacrifice, it is idiocy
and how ARROGANT of you to assume it’s all about not wanting to leave "cushy" lifestyles
not wanting to be a burden onto others /=/ not willing to leave a cushy lifestyle
I could NOT get a job in the one thing that I do and do well, the one thing I am happy doing and love doing
so NO, I will not go to a foreign country where I couldn’t do my chosen career
and for what?
so that Israel has more Jews to compete against the Arabs?
they aren’t going to solve THAT problem with more Jews
that is a political problem that will have to be solved another way
but moving to another country so with no job and no way to get a job so that I am a burden on that new country is beyond stupid

I thought the only Jews in America NOT living cushy lifestyles were the Israelis who moved there to make the millions...

Considering the times we are in now I think it is important for every Jew to make their way to Israel. I’m not discounting other countries, I’m simply pointing out the most obvious one in that the United States has the largest number, basically equal to the whole Jewish population in Israel. If all the Jews in the US made their way back to the land of thier ancestors then it would double the population.

Their is a bigger purpose beyond a job or the caliber of our lifestyle. There is programs here to set one up with a job and a place to stay for all new residents. Sure the job market is tough, but any Jew that made the journey to Israel when it was given back in the 40’s knew that it wasn’t going to be easy, but they also knew that it would be worth it.

I’m glad you asked. My Great Great Uncle is Max Grabowski, brother of my GG Grandmother, the Jewish auto inventor who sold his co. to Henry Ford which is now know as GM Motors. My Grandfather was the last maternal decent Jew in my family line. I did marry an Israeli Jew and we now have a beautiful Jewish daughter, and as a family we are living in Israel. I work with Jews, my friends are Jews, and I live out each Jewish Holiday, custom, meal, prayer, ect. I do have my personal beliefs, but that doesn’t get in the way of enjoying my friends and family in Israel. Thanks for asking. :)

Your right, there are many Jews living in the US that don’t have a cushy lifestyle, but that is no excuse to not make aliyah and all the more reason to make the trip. The benefits of moving will outweigh their hardships if they are living in the US under OBAMA! lol
