Honestly even in a win the blazers played a lil sloppy against the rockets and the nuggets took advantage of the blazers basically playing like theyre stuck in preseason mode. I mean honestly when is coach nate gonna decide what the rotations are gonna be, cause he seems like he doesnt know who to play right now. Dont get me wrong he’s a great coach but hey... the season started, get it together man.
On another note, im a big steve blake fan and was happy when he chose to come back to portland after we traded him away... but if youre gonna play oden alongside miller all preseason and get him used to a certain pg’s tendencies then why switch it up now?! I say bring blake off the bench, i think he feels the pressure of miller on his heels and is making him play sloppy. He needs to relax and miller would probably be happier and play better as a starter, dont wait 2 months if youre gonna make the change make it now when the season just started
As for Roy’s and Aldridge’s poor shooting start... eh im not worried, they’ll get it goin soon enough

Just because your ok with watching a team that should easily win games that they lose play bad doesnt mean everyone should be ok with it. High expecatations should bring a lil dissapointment to how they’ve been the first few games. I mean yeah there is 79 games left but if you have to come back to make the western conference playoffs you’ll be watching from the outside looking in.

They need a change somewhere and you know it... being bottom of the nw division should make that obvious even to homer fans such as you and i. But lets keep pretending like nothing’s wrong with losses(to denver without jr smith and now houston without yao or t-mac or artest) bad defense and poor shooting, that will make everything alright. You do realize our steadying force on the defensive end is out 3 to 5 months and webster and outlaw wont be able to fill that void, sign ime or someone who can play lock down d or we’ll be seeing a lot of sloppy play for the next few months. Not to mention coach nate is a defensive minded coach whose defense is lacking, and his offensive scheme is mainly a pick and pop with aldridge or a one on one for roy. I could draw that up myself... so our offense wont really bring us wins, it has to come from the defensive end.

I still think Blake will play better off the bench, i seriously think its in his head that he’ll be gettin benched for miller and its making him play poorly. He will play better striving to get that starting spot back then continually looking over his shoulder.

Calm down....It’ll be alright....If they’re still doing this a month from now I’ll be worried. If you haven’t noticed the regular season in the NBA means exactly DICK as long as you make the playoffs and the Blazers will make the playoffs.

you act as if im freaking out ready to jump off the bridge or somethin, im merely stating my opinions and worries about the team and the only thing you can say is it will be alright... which is pretty annoying. But i guess this forum isnt used for discussion these days. And youre seriously retarded if you think the regular season doesnt mean anything, ask the lakers or celtics or spurs how much home court throughout means in the playoffs. The best teams usually will get through but if the blazers had home court on the lakers the blazers would win that series, if the lakers had it the blazers would lose. So go back to watching football or whatever else is taking your interest away from basketball and i’ll keep this forum updated with my opinions whenever i see fit

YOU ACT like it’s 25 games into the season and this team has less than 10 wins. They’re 2-2 and still working out the kinks. Like I said before if they’re still struggling a month from now I’ll be worried. Eventually they’ll put the piece together all in one game. I’ll get to see tonight at the game...

First off it’s not like Atlanta is a pushover. They’re a young team with playoff experience that matches up very well with us. They’re long, athletic and play good defense. (We haven’t had a single pushover game yet (not even OKC)).

I still don’t think we’re very far off. A couple things to improve on and we’ll start pushing leads instead of giving them up. And it’s not like we’re getting blown out...

1) Gotta agree to sit Blake and start Miller. Blake doesn’t play good enough defense, plain and simple. He repeatedly gets beat off the dribble and is causing Oden/Pryz to get in foul trouble when they have to help out in the paint on smaller players. Miller has looked much better than Blake the last couple of games and plays much better defense.

2) Our wings and guards gotta play better defense. This will help keep Oden and Pryz from wasting fouls on guards on help defense. We lost to Atlanta because a) Jamal Crawford killed us and b) Oden and Prys got into foul trouble (Oden was playing awesome when he was in the game). Missing Batum is hurting us right now and it’s taking time for Webster, Rudy and Outlaw to adjust to having to play defense against the other teams best wing.

3) Our wings and guards gotta start getting to the free throw line more. They’re settling for way too many outside shots.

Ok i agree that Atlanta isnt a pushover, but we’ve lost 2 of 3 home games which is something that usually is our strong point.
OKC... they are a mid tier team at best, they have potential but they are willing to try and shoot it out which obviously doesnt work so in my eyes they dont have a championship team or coach.
Houston... come on man we shouldnt lose to that team, i mean granted anyone in the nba can play but we got beat by a team of role players.
Denver we played tough and it was probably our best outing this year which isnt really saying much considering most our points came from the line.
But all in all im sure we agree on almost everything that needs to be taken care of on a team standpoint.

On a different note i think i’ve been too harsh solely on coach nate in my posts and want to broaden the blame. Obviously every head coach needs solid assistant coaches and i think maybe coach nate’s assistants could be better. I mean the 2 great coaches of this decade, phil jackson who has tex winters(?) the master of the triangle and poppavich has always had a slew of coaches. I think that maybe we’re expecting too much of coach nate and he needs some offensive guru to cut him some slack on the offensive side so he can focus on defense and get this team back on track. I’ve always believed that a team is only as good as the coaches make them

im wondering when the band wagon crew will be posting again... maybe when the wins come back in bunches cause they sure are silent lately heh

Actually after watching last night I’d agree that Nate is a good part of the reason this team is losing close games right now. At the end of games he’s getting out coached. Last night with about 4 mins left he went with a lineup that had struggled all night and then didn’t change it until the game was almost out of reach 2 mins later. I get the feeling that he didn’t want us to sign Andre Miller and that’s could be causing some chemistry problems with him and the team.

Personally, I think Outlaw cost us the game last night. He passed up a wide open 3 pointer that could’ve tied the game (he was hitting his shots last night), took 3 dribbles into two defenders and turned the ball over. He also repeatedly got beat on defense which helped lead to foul trouble for Oden and Pryz. I never thought this team would miss Batum this much. Let’s hope they adjust within the next couple of weeks.

And I gotta clarify that I think our defense in general is fine right now (just about the same PPG allowed as last year). It’s our offense not getting enough FT attempts and our guards defense that is hurting us. Our help defense seems great which accounts for us allowing about the same ppg as last year. Our offense is just coming up short right now because of lack of FT attempts and poor shooting.

I get the feeling though we could see a better team on Friday against SA...

In every Sports the games matter once each regular season starts. And the Blazers getting off to a 2 and 3 start def isn’t a good start at all granted. But the Blazers should in no way lose to Teams like Atlanta (even if they are 4 and 1 now) with the win over the Jazz tonight, or to teams like OKC or the Kings etc any low level teams they should never lose too in my opinion but that’s the great thing about sports period even the underdogs have their day’s at times in sports. But the fire will be burned under the butts of this team and we’ll be getting back to playing Blazers basketball coming off of a 54 win season last year and being co-divison champion’s of the Northwest divison a 2 and 3 start is nothing to completely panic over. Because with new added pieces each year is does take some games to work everything out and get the new added key guys in stride with the system both on offense and defense. It’s great news to see though that both Oden and Przybilla are showing some leadership and getting on the team about defense and all around hustle and effort. Since that’s something that is liking is the defense woes at times. And with Alridge
scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds in his first double double of the season and Roy pitching in with his 19 points vs. Atlanta on Tuesday night.

The Blazers will be fine though every game in the NBA long season matters (especially on your own divison playing teams in your own divison) But we have enough leaders on this team with the key added vets of Andrew and Juwan that we’ll see the work and intensity.

Losing Batum hurts become of his wing span and alertness on defense to get out their and effect shots with his long arms and lock down hustle. But it takes all the guy’s to step up in his absense.

Like all big time fans of the Blazers in this Group i don’t like seeing the Blazers at 2 and 3. But their are many more games to come in the long season and getting the best possible position in the western conference entering the playoffs is keyly what matters. The Blazers are no longer the bad apple in the bottom of the cart around the league and the butt of everybody’s jokes. Rip City is once again.

I believe in this team and Coach Nate McMillan i think he is a great coach and the other staff he has around him are also great minds. I’m not going to push the panic switch just yet.

finally a good game, 1 of 6 heh. I like that they started miller and oden together and go figure oden got stats more like the ones he was gettin during the preseason. Their offense looked better and when you only turn the ball over 12 times good things happen. As for the defense... still not so great, the spurs were gettin all kinds of wide open jumpers they were just missing them and if the refs continue to give oden the benefit of the doubt on some of those lil bumps down low he will get to play more just like last night

And now 6-3 the Blazers are after last night’s win at Minnesota they are now playing great all around team Basketball with the dominate performance of Oden last night with 18 points, 11 rebounds, 1 stl, 1 assit, and 1 block with more importantly 0 fouls at all the whole game last night.

This team i Believe is now starting to mold and gel and play on both ends of the court with everybody as a unit. We’re sitting tied with the Nuggets at 6-3 in the Northwest Divison and have more upcoming games on our 5 game road trip next up at the Hornets (who just fired their head coah Bryon Scott), and then at Cha and then again to face Atlanta (which i know we’ll have a better game) then the first time we have faced and played Atlanta.

The two point guard combo of Miller and Blake playing along side Roy so far seems to be paying off in the little line up change that Nate switched two a few games ago. Because it’s letting the guys run more and get out on the fast break and assit the ball.

But will Coach Mcmillian permantely have Miller at the top point guard spot in the starting line up instead of having Blake with Miller out there on the floor in the line up. I’m not sure yet if he will but my guessing is yes that he will. But so far so good with this new line up change. If it’s not broken then right now don’t change it. We’re at 6-3 right now still in early in the season and playing some great basketball on both ends of the floor and each guy is stepping up how they can with this 4 game winning streak (because remember last year we had a stretch going last year of a 7 or 8 game winning streak i think it was)

And with the Nuggests also facing the La Lakers on Friday night. With last night the Nuggests lose to Mil.

I’m really loving to see the continueing growth and progress of Oden. He’s taking the horns and stepping up as a voiceful leader and with enough leaders on a team that you can have that is never a bad thing. So it’s not always the head coach having to be a voiceful and come one guys let’s go let’s get it done type of leader during games.

Next up for the Blazers on their 5 game road trip:

At New Orleans
At Charlotte
At Atlanta

Now 7-3 looking hopefully at 8-3 Tomorrow at Cha

Last night’s game at New Orleans was probably the worst half of Basketball i’ve heard on the radio (i sadly don’t have Comcast cable though!) it’s not in my area! So i had to listen to it on the game instead but the 1st and 2nd were cover my ears awful for both teams really shooting % wise and misses after misses and the Blazers had the day off on Thursday as well so they should have been fresh and ready to go but a win is a win no matter if it’s by 10 points or 5 points a win is a win and going undefeated on this 5 game road trip with being 3-0 on the 5 game road trip with having the win streak go to 5 games now with two more games to go on the road trip at Cha and at Atl it says alot about the team since on the road this season is def def were the Blazers need to improve on leaps and bounds and so far their doing that although there really not blowing bad teams away like they should be i think (expect for the blow out wins over Minn on back to back night’s)

But numberous key guys stepping up in last night’s game when both teams were shooting terrible but key guys for the Blazers stepped up Roy and the Blazers big men all coming up huge Oden, Alridge, and Joel and the 3rd double double of the season for LaMarcus

We’re beating the teams that we are supposed to beat, but we’ll see how we favor up against the top teams in the NBA win it heat’s up in Dec
