Review Girard Sauvignon Blanc ‘07
Current mood: breezy
Tonight as we were getting ready for dinner we were not that hungry and decided to have a shrimp cocktail and wine for dinner. We opened the Girard Sauvignon Blanc and had a sampling first before we had our shrimp cocktail.

Girard Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of three properties all of the same grape……..100% Sauvignon blanc grape from Napa Valley Region. The wine was almost clear with a slight tinge of straw color. Your nose was greeted with apple aromas and fresh cut hay. This wine had nice legs and after checking the bottle we found this wine to have 13.9 % alcohol. I believe this is almost the norm now a days. Not that long ago wine was more in the 11% to 12% alcohol range. More and more wines are becoming little alcohol bombs.

This wine was good paired with our shrimp cocktail and as the wine opened more and more, flavors began coming out in this wine. Of course apple, light hay and herbs with a clean fresh finish. This wine was not barrel fermented but aged in stainless steel tanks.
I liked this wine more as it warmed, the wine maker suggested Seafood, Salad and Chicken dishes to pair with this wine. He even suggested having as an aperitif! We felt it to be a light refreshing wine, perfect with our appetizer………….

As a side note “wine enthusiast rated this wine “90” points! You can find this wine for about $15-20 dollars.

We rate this wine (Good)

Here are our Ratings: / Pass / Fair / Ok / Good / Great / Fantastic

Disclaimer: Just because we like or dislike a wine does not mean that you will have the same experience. Of course it’s always worth a try….tell us what you think??
