I’m trying to FTP the first page of my site with Kompozer. I used to use Frontpage. I know Dreamweaver is better. Anyway I think my page had been FTP the first time as
index.htm file. I can call it index.htm in Kompozer but it’s saved as a html file. Maybe none of this matters. Kompozer goes through the motions of FTP ing the page but it doesn’t change on the site so I’m doing something wrong. I lost my old PC that I was managing the site from. I think the file I am trying to FTP isn’t matching what is already there. If my question is confusing, I understand and agree with you.

Well Kompozer is better than Frontpage and I don’t support pirating Dreamweaver.
May I suggest also checking the Kompozer Forums or IRC channel for help. There are probably people that may have experienced your issue there.

The first page of the site that I am trying to FTP is index.htm by default Kompozer calls it index.html and saves it as a html file. I think when I did the page in Frontpage it let me save it in something like, "my webs" rather than html. I think this is the root of why the changed page is not showing up. I’ll check the forum above.

Both .html and .htm extensions can be viewed as default on a web server. Normally I only see .htm on Microsoft IIS servers. There are settings to choose what you see as default for the index.
My suggestion would be to first review what your server sees as default on it’s user control panel.
And a question: Are your sure that the server is not receiving an index.html from Kompozer and retaining the old index.htm? Because if that was the case you could have both old and new files there.
You might also try using another FTP client for the index and see what happens.

I actually think the site might be receiving an index.html from Kompozer and that is the problem but I don’t know positively. I know for sure the page I’m trying to update is
index.htm Kompozer shows the name of the file as index.htm but the only way I can save the file is a html file.

Initial problem is fixed: I had to add /public to the ftp address. Now when I ftp the changes happen.
New problem, more common but I never had it before:
I normally use Firefox. I noticed after I ftp the site that my Google cart buttons were not showing up in Firefox. I opened the site up in IE and the buttons were there. When the site first opens up in IE if looks normal. After you scroll down the page and then back to the top, there is a large blank space on the page. Firefox doesn’t do that. Is there an easy solution to make the site behave on both Firefox and IE? I know Kompozer has quite a few tools, something might help. Thanks

*Firefox has been acting up lately, even after the very recent update. usually not loading certain sites, etc. Even Youtube servers seem to be slow or not loading videos at times.
I have been running Flock or the other browsers when Firefox starts acting up, just fyi...

Everything is perfect now. Created on Kompozer but Filezilla did the trick for FTP. Now all is normal on both Firefox and IE. My head is still spinning. Thanks

For Christ sakes. I composed the website in Kompozer. When I ftp with Kompozer all the photos upload perfectly but the google checkout buttons are missing and the checkout doesn’t work. When I ftp with Filezilla the checkout works and the buttons are there but any new photos are deleted, just the alternate text is there. None of my problems are ever like anyone elses so it’s hard to google answers.

Kinda fixed it. I copied and pasted the photo in Kompozer and saved it. I was clicking on a file to insert the photo in Kompozer. It worked and Filezilla FTP’d it right.

Just found out by accident that I don’t have the " File Transfer Protocol service" installed. It might have been installed on the old PC I was using.

Hence why you were having FTP issues in Kompozer?

It didn’t help after all. I have another clue. Kompozer does alright with everything except one file that is the google checkout cart. This file is js. Is there anything different when you ftp js? Filezilla does it but Kompozer won’t.
