Can anyone explain the current fascination with vampires?
I know the vampire concept goes way back in history, but why the huge recrudesence?
What does this tell us about our society?

I have been fasinated with Vampires all my life. Books, movies TV shows etc.

I am not sure why it is so popular at this time, but it is not new to me. Perhaps it is the immortality thing? Or the fantasy of it. When times get tough people tend to get more into fantasy, anything to keep from feeling the difficult stuff.

Would that also explain the current fascination with zombies?

I suppose it would explain any fantasy that people are emerging with, including fantasy games, role playing games, Renaissance Faires etc.

Harmless fun, so to speak?
You know, when I lived in Missoula, Mont., several years ago, there was a group of young people who actually considered themselves to be vampires. Among other things, they drank human blood. I sometimes wonder what happened to them.

I have never personally known a person claiming to be a vampire and drinking blood, BUT I have known several Energy Vampires. Those that feed off of others energy. It is easy to spot them, you will always feel drained around them.

Agreed. I’ve worked with some of them and know others socially. That’s the reality of vampirism.

Are you aware of the ways to protect yourself from Energy Vampires? If not let me know and I will give you some suggestions.

There are several ways, starting with the recognition of who they are. I’ve found laughter to be great protection, if avoidance is not an option.

Whenever you encounter anyone negative, especially an energy vamp,

1. Cross one arm across your solar plexis
2. Visualize a mirror surrounding you
3. Surround them with violet light
4. Always surround yourself with white light

Fortunately, I seem to have developed an immunity to those folks. They don’t show up in my life any longer.
By the way, there’s an article in the paper today about some guy in a restaurant who punched another guy in the face because he thought he was a zombie.
I don’t think these obsessions are harmless.

I have not seen ’twilight’ or any new movies featuring vampires. It boggles me as well; its interesting-I ask my high school aged son what he thinks of it all; does he want to see ’twilight’? So far, he could care less. (he’s been exploring music lately, quite the music appreciator....especially Pink Floyd and Dylan)

I might see twilight because I want to know or get a feel for its ’vibe’ or perspective. Just what is the obsession with vampires; and its not only young teens that love it. I overheard some mothers at the grocery store mentioning the movie & I politely interrupted and asked what they liked about it. They lit up, and happily burbled about how wonderful it was...while never really saying ’why’ they liked it so.

I’ve thought as well, that humanity as a whole is lacking something or has an over abundance of something (emotionally or spiritually) that is showing up in the sheer attraction to vampires lately....
