We live in a world of war, poverty and environment devastation. The cause of these problems is the capitalist system. Capitalism is a system in which the world’s wealth, resources and means of production are owned by a tiny minority of the population, the capitalists. Goods are produced to make profits, not to satisfy human needs. The majority of humanity, the working class, survives by selling its labor to these capitalists.
The modern state, basically, the army and the police exists to protect the capitalist’s property. In the name of globalization, anti-democratic, super-national institutions impose privatization and deregulation on all nations. The capitalist system is leading humanity to barbarism. Whole nations are being destroyed, look at Africa. This is the future capitalism has in store for all nations.
Many people think that the non-governmental organizations or NGOs and the social forums can help us get out of this mess. These institutions propose to humanize capitalism and globalization. They say that all sectors of civil society, that is the bosses and the workers together, should work together to fight poverty and promote sustainable development. The capitalists completely agree with this rhetoric, that is why they fund these institutions. The workers and the youth have nothing in common with these capitalists. Oppressors and oppressed can not work together in harmony. War and exploitation can not be humanized.
We as socialists propose that the youth, the workers and all the oppressed should unite to fight for democratic rights, women rights, health care, social security, the independence of workers organizations, good jobs, good schools and peace. Because capitalism can’t provide us these rights, these struggles sooner or later will have to take on the whole system. Some say revolution is a thing of the past. But look around the world, the revolution of the 21 century has already begun.
Under socialism the means of production are owned by and democratically run by the people. Socialism means production is run to provide for human needs, it means technology would be used to save the environment, cure aids, instead of building better cars. It will mean the expansion of democracy, the expansion of freedom and the expansion of solidarity. With stakes so high the alternatives is socialism or barbarism. It is up to our generation to get rid of this irrational and destructive system. We have a world to win.
if you would like be apart of this movement and help support its aims, just add me or join my group The United Social Party~ http://groups.myspace.com/UnitedSocialistParty and together we can help make this world a better place.
