I am so glad to have found this group so I can vent without the fear of people thinking that I am exaggerating.

I have severe DDD and spinal stenosis. My discs (L4-S1) herniate just by breathing the wrong way (not much of an exaggeration). After my 2nd surgery it seems as though I have permanent nerve damage to the rt leg and foot. My ankle is so week I can no longer flex it well enough to drive. I have recently applied for Social Security but doubt I will be approved due to my age.

I don’t like taking pain meds and am interested in trying the patches. Any advice on this?

Welcome to the group. I feel your pain. I have also had a back surgery where it went wrong and is considered a failure and suffer from nerve damage. I have not tried the pain patches but what I hear is that for some, they do well and for others they do not.

Thanks for the reply. I get mad at myself for feeling sorry for myself but I can’t seem to help it sometimes. I tell myself things could be worse and I empathize with those who have more severe issues. I’m glad you are now able to walk. Modern technology is amazing.
Thanks and take care.

I hear ya on loosing out on the life of a normal person. I have so many disease I don’t even feel like listing them all. Sounds like maybe they shouldn’t have messed around with discectomies and maybe should have just done the fusion. I had 2 discs removed and my spine fused last year and am 80% better that before surgery. I still get pain when I do too much and can’t lift heavy things, but its so much better than I was. I was also blessed with a talented surgeon. I wish you luck and be careful with those strong pain meds..they can kill. They patches scare the crap out of me cause one small tear in them can cause too much med. to get into the system...then it causes death.
