Has anyone watched Oprah today? What are your opinions about the show? Will you go see the movie?

I think Chris Rock tied it up nicely: "Black women, whatever makes you happy is good hair".

Some of us natural females in the ATL area are going to get together and screen the movie. I’m excited.
I watched that last portion of the interview. I have mad respect for Oprah for making it so that all the girls at her schools in South Africa get their hair braided when needed. That way the girls don’t have to fuss with permed hair and worry about their hair when they should be worrying about their books.
I have more respect for Solange also for stating that this may just be a phase for her but that people just put too much into hair at times. I look forward to seeing Chris Rock’s movie. Looks like its gonna be a riot!!!

I heard about him being sued and I wonder what’s going to happen. I have also watched the documentary "Nappy Roots" and I thought it was very interesting and insightful. It’s funny how she won a prize for it and premiered it for Chris yet he claimed he got the idea from hearing his daughter description. Anyhow, only time will tell what will happen. It sucks that it takes a well known celebrity to bring this issue out but when an unknown does it, it never makes it to the masses.

That lawsuit against Rock’s movie was dismissed. I just saw the movie this weekend and was kind of dissappointed as a black woman with natural hair. Naturals weren’t well represented...actually, I think a lot was missing from the movie. It was funny, but could have been better. I talk about it more in detail at www.afroliciousdynasty.blogspot.com.
