Alot of people have been spamming random crap on here lately. Well here’s a real thread: Who is your favorite drummer - based on skill, style, the way they play ... anything!

Mine I’d have to say is Carter Beauford (from Dave Matthews Band).

He is the absolute best drummer (IMO) for a band like DMB and he’s so smooth and times everything perfectly.

Yours?

Well the problem with my answers is that I only mention common drummers known to the mass,

and just because I say I like this drummer or that drummer doesn’t mean that I think this drummer

or these drummers are the best,

when I mention drummers I am mentioning some of the great masters of drumming.

OK, with that being said here are in no poticular order some of my favorite drummers of choice:

Carter Beauford,
Danny Carey(Tool),
Tim (Herb) Alexander(Primus),
Neil Peart(Rush)(So far I like Rush’s "Exit Stage Left" album the most),
I am not sure who else to mention, but they are among my most favorite.

Tool’s drummer and Rush’s drummer are masters of polyrhythms and odd time signatures.

And Primus’s drummer Tim (Herb) Alexander fits so well with Primus

he plays amazing rhythms on the toms
and in my opinion has some of the most creative double bass drumming I’ve heard so far in my lifetime.

Carter Beauford play amazing open handed styles on the hi-hat.

They are all truly amazing,

Also there is another recorded drummer for Primus called Brain(which is his alias)
and he is really great at Funk, Go Go beats, Latin and is just an all around great drummer.

I would agree with the good Dr. here and just add Vinnie Paul from Pantera. Dude has the groove.

I would definitely have to say José Pasillas is one of my favorite drummers to listen to

And as far as "The Rev" goes, he’s pretty amazing, but I can’t ever listen to him because I can’t stand listening to Avenged Sevenfold >_<
