I’m in a weird position. As a wife, I don’t deal directly with military protocol, so there’s really no place for me to "speak out".

However, I have to put with the other wives. Anybody who survived middle school knows how girls are, and they don’t change when they become women. It’s brutal out here! It’s usually Christian wives who give me the most grief. I ask to be left alone, they mock: "I’ll pray for you!" In a mom play group forum that organizes near our post, I asked around if anyone was atheist, agnostic, freethinking, anything. Out of almost 100 views, I got one response. It was friendly, but it was along the lines of, "Well we’re all Christian here, but I’d be glad to meet you."
