Has anyone tried Mansinthe? I hear it is very high quality, as he is an afficianado of Absinthe and wanted it to be strong. On a scale of 1-100 it got a 92. Lucid got a 75.
So far I had Hill’s in canada (horrible, but I didn’t know that at the time) and Lucid was the next I tried. Loved it! Got the Grande Absente and while it is a quality buzz - it’s not the Lucid.
Would like to try something else, but am trying to find a bottle in the U.S. with the highest Grande Wormwood and Thujone levels. Absinthe hasn’t just sparked my creativity as a writer and musician, but I also suffer from a very rare headache disorder that hallucinogens actually help break the cycles of, and since trying Absinthe the headaches have slowed down. I’m thinking the contents may be working at the level I need for the headaches, but would like to try something stronger.
Any suggestions?

I really hate to disillusion you, but: absinthe isn’t an hallucinogen. check out this website to get the real low-down on what it’s all about. I’m sorry if I seem to be coming off like a prude...but believe me, I’m HOPEFULLY saving you from the flaming of some real assholes on here.
It’s a great drink, absinthe, just know what you’re looking for/at and enjoy!
Peace & Resolve,
Ryan.

I realize it will not make you ’trip’ - and that isn’t what I am referring to. Just referring to chemical proponents that may be of real use for medicinal reasons.
With that said, my experiences with Absinthe have been wonderful (except the Hill’s) and after a couple of glasses, I am ready to start recording or writing. It just sparks me.
It’s not your typical ’alcohol buzz’ but rather euphoric. Although I will agree that the Grande Absente is good if you want to drink ’absinthe’ and get hammered from a few glasses. It doesn’t have that robust zing to it that Lucid has. (And yes, before anyone flames me, I am green to Absinthe ((pun intended)) and am learning more about it since first discovering it.)
BevCo just emailed me and said the Mansinthe is back in stock at $59.99 US. On their site it got an 89 rating. So I am thinking that will be the next bottle I will get as funds allow.
What’s up with Kubler? I hear people knock it and praise it. Is it TRUE absinthe or a knockoff?

I completely agree with you in that it’s a UNIQUE "buzz" experience. I’ve never had a hangover form it: on the contrary, I usually wake up feeling fantastic! The buzz, for me is intensely high energy (I usually don’t use sugar cubes...so, before anyone goes the route of saying it’s a sugar high, I’ll nip that one there.) and euphoric. I. too, am a writer -of song and otherwise- I play several instruments as well and it definitely is a creative catalyst for me.
As for Kubler, it is a true absinthe and I enjoy it. Not a huge fan of Lucid though: it is interesting but I wouldn’t suggest it to someone wanting to get a feel for it their first time...just too many odd qualities. My favorite brands available in the states that I’ve tried were Sirene (YUMMY!!!) and most recently, St. George. St. knocked Sirene out of the first place spot for me (ok...for the time being: I’ll probably flip-flop on this one! : ) )

Mack Danger,
Assuming you are in Illinois, there’s a good selection at Binny’s in the Chicago area.
I am there; also Nouvelle-Orleans, Lucid, Kubler, St. George, and Sirene.

Mansinthe is good, I’ve had it. Unique flavor, well-made.
1 sugar cube is more than enough, many say, and I agree -- maybe just stir it minimally. It will keep you awake though, I found that out!

Agreed. I think Mansinthe gets some bias against it simply from the gimmicky aspect, but it really isn’t bad stuff.
