There is a lot of stigma and ignorance towards autism spectrum people. Although more people are aware of the autism spectrum, some people still strongly believe the old myths. I’ve known NT’s that have experienced stigma as well. There is nothing worse than to receive "that look" from somebody telling you that he/she does not and will not trust you just because you act differently from other people. It seems like some people in society shun people who do not fit their category of "normal". I know that some people do that. It makes many people who are shunned due to stigma feel bad. Society would be a better place for everybody, both NT’s and aspies, if everybody can get along with each other and not judge other people.

people fear what they dont understand and shun what they fear in the hope that it will just go away. ignorance can only be fought with knowledge truth and compassion. Try to understand that it is not you but unreasonable fear or msconceptions about aspergers. They expect to see what they see on tv. when you dont act like the guy on boston legal or whatever they saw then they dont have a clue on what to do. Being different is something we cant change but we need to learn how to exsist in the world on the worlds terms. education not legislation is what is needed to change things.
