We’ve been posting a lot of new fiction at Armageddon Buffet, including:
1. An excerpt from Chris Tannhauser’s novel Tears of the Wounded Sky.
2. Juventino Manzano’s literary narcocorrido, "Vestige to Visage."
3. An excerpt from a new translation of Arkady and Boris Strugatsky’s A Beetle in an Anthill.
Each has been pursuing a different path. Chris Tannhauser’s novel is yet to be published, as Chris writes for less "conventional" audiences -- video games and the military. Juventino is a Mexican writer, and his perspective on Mexico’s drug war is, to say the least, less naive than someone living north of the border. And the Strugatsky brothers, while famous in Russia, are relatively unknown in the U.S. - which is a shame, since their work predicted the decline and demise of the Soviet Union, a future we in the U.S. will soon face.
Our question for discussion is: which storyline best depicts our current armageddon and why?
