The National Ballet, Inc., a non-profit, is the oldest professional ballet company and school in the state of Maryland. It was found in 1948 by Helen Moore. Her daughter, Pamela Moore began teaching in the school at the young age of 14 and currently holds the position of owner/director for both the company and school.

Kimmary MacLean and Elizabeth MacLean, granddaughters of Helen Moore and daughters of Pamela Moore grew up in the school and have been teaching there since 2000 and 2004 respectively.

The National Ballet, Inc. has trained a great many professional dancers and teachers utilizing the Cecchetti Method of Ballet. With your help they can continue to do so.

Because of current economic conditions the accounts receivables are very high and the National Ballet, Inc. has been unable to pay basic overhead costs including rent and utilities.

Today, May 7, 2009, we received a summons to appear in court for failure to pay rent. If we do not have $7,519.50 by Monday May 11th the National Ballet will close its doors for the very last time.

We are asking you to help in any way you can to keep the doors of this institution open. We are devoted to arts education and performing for the community and would be greatly saddened to see this great company come to an end.

How can you help? You may ask.

There are two ways.

The first is monetarily; on our website you can make a tax deductible donation through PayPal. https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_flow&SESSION=SrKs6p7IR6KR3F979-lMiruScjMQwW-EJ9l9rmV9ebMzI19yk-WWLD72G4m&dispatch=5885d80a13c0db1f998ca054efbdf2c29878a435fe324eece89750ada9738e57

Even if you can only send $5, if we get enough people to do this it WILL help.

The second is by spreading the word. Tell people about us! The more people that know the better!

Thank you for any support that you are able to give, it is greatly appreciated and will be remembered.

correction...that PayPal link no longer works...if you do not want to go through the National Ballet website you can go to www.PayPal.com and send donations to BalletNBC@aol.com

Also, I would like to post a well written letter from the Chairman of the ECC:

Letter sent out by the Chairman of the ECC:
Dear Fellow ECC Members,

This message is sent with urgency. The National Ballet Company/School (Pamela Moore- Director) is in a desperate situation. The company needs $8000 immediately to be able to stay at its current location. If this bill is not met the National Ballet Studio will close its doors.

For over 60 years the National Ballet School has been able to provide exceptional dance/teacher training. Many of us value the high quality of dance education offered at the School. Many of us have looked to National Ballet for guidance while pursuing a career as Cecchetti instructors. These are trying times financially for all of us, but, if you can find it in your heart, please support the National Ballet School and Company so future generations may continue to receive this valuable dance training.

The National Ballet Company is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and all contributions are tax deductible. Please consider making a contribution to the National Ballet Company so that the doors may remain open and the high quality dance instruction presented by the school can continue. Contributions need to be received by the company no later than Wednesday, May 13th or the doors will close forever.

As a friend,

Becky Pfarrer

Inserted by Kimmary I. MacLean- Please note that although this letter says not later than May 13th, it would really be best if we received help by May 11th so that there would be no chance of losing the school or company.
