As the EU elections are coming up (and debate on here as been sluggish recently), I was wondering what people think about the EU, good/bad aspects, achievements, how centralised it should become etc...

Personally, i’m all in favour of an organisation to promote co-operation with our neighbours in Europe and break down barriers (in a hippy internationalist way). I think the EU is becoming a bit overbearing (i read somewhere about VAT regulations or some shit) and the Lisbon treaty (as far as i can tell) is a bit dodgy...

Generally, the EU should be more hands off, and do fewer things well...

I’m beginning to think the EU is trying to turn all it’s member states into one big federation. Ye shall not, ye shall not...then there’s a single currency.
