I just saw IAG for the 1st time in forever at the stop ’between Long Beach and Vegas’ as they called us. Which...we are. However, Timmy is still from here and so is our old friend, Gabe...so I’m assuming they all spent alot of time here (how many shows have I seen of theirs in VV? Too many to count).
The little snide remarks about us and where we’re located isn’t what really upset me, though. What the fuck happened to their stage presence, specifically Steve’s? I’m trying to give the benefit of the doubt and assume he was just tired and/or sick and I soooo hope Bamboozle Left will remind of the "I will rip your face off" days of I Am Ghost.
I miss them...the old members...and the old shows that made me fall in love with the band enough to put their lyrics on me permanently. I think the newer members are amazing and put on a great show. I just wonder what’s going on with Steve....I used to think IAG would never survive without Steve’s stage presence and passion...hmmm...I’m beginning to worry.

Well, I don’t get out very much and I saw them on Friday the 13th at the Chain Reaction, and I have to say that the stage presence is still there -- however, it’s just evolved, as the music has evolved as well. Listening to them for the past 5 years (? it’s been a LONG time, so I’m throwing a guestimate out there), I Am Ghost don’t seem to be the ones to stay stagnant when it comes to music or stage shows.
And I do think he may have been sick or tired, because even on Friday it sounded as if his throat was sore and/or his voice was taxed. Not that it sounded bad, just that it sounded scratchy, which isn’t usual when I see them. So I don’t throw out those possibilities.

Well, I’ve noticed if there’s not a lot of people at shows it’s not as energetic. It’s hard to get energy out of a crowd and give it back when there’s not a lot of kids into the music or at the show at all. I’ve noticed that. But that doesn’t mean they don’t give it their all. Steve and the rest ALWAYS give as much as they can. So, maybe one show or so wasn’t up to your expectations. But that doesn’t mean they don’t put their all in it or have lost their talent or stage presence :) I see them very often, and it’s always a good show.

I’m not saying they aren’t amazing. I know they put on great shows. I’ve known this since the days before Epitaph. I suppose I am disappointed that I know they can give so much more as I’ve watched them grow since the beginning and it was harsh for them to act like they didn’t give a damn about their little Victorville show. Some of the best shows I’ve seen of theirs were in Victorville, and I had high expectations as they’ve always killed.
It sucked seeing them on an ’off’ night. Especially since I drag a bunch of people to their shows to experience the amazing stage performance of the band.

A lot of times when I’ve seen them they "acted" like they didn’t give a damn, but that’s what it is: a show!
What are you expecting? A bunch of rainbows and unicorns to be flying out of their asses as they tell you how much they love you? I’ve seen them in different venues, in different cities, in different years. Pre-record company and post-signage. Never once have they ever spoken as if they don’t appreciate their fans that buy the records, the fans that come to shows, the fans that aren’t able to make it to shows but wish they could, or just plain damned fans -- but when it comes to the shows, it’s exactly that: A show. And I’ve never seen them treat their fans as if one sect is better than the other or lower.
You can’t expect things to stay the same, whether it be music, show, poly-ticks, people -- everything evolves.
But it doesn’t mean that they didn’t give a damn unless the band members went up to all the audience members and said "We really don’t give a shit playing in your town"... If they said that then I understand where you’re coming from, but if not.... don’t know why you’re bitchin’.

The energy a band has on stage corresponds to their fans. This is what bands WANT. It’s WHY they make music. To convey music, to transpire ideas, and give their listeners something to keep them going. Sometimes, to keep them going, they need to shove out $15 and stand with a bunch of sweaty people they don’t know. In the end, they are entertainers, that is the jist of their job title. Keep them entertained. I understand, show after show after show, it will obviously take a tole and they will be tired. But this obviously has been a reoccurring thing.
No one’s saying they’ve lost their respect for their fans, but have they lost their spark?
Survey says...

Exactamundo Mr. Richard Chainsaw. I think some people get a little crazy and overly defensive over observations. I was upset that they did a lousy job when they’ve never disappointed. Pardon to those that think I’m bitching because I expect a very talented band to showcase their talent outside of the studio as well as in.
Have they lost their spark? That seems to be a very plausible concern. Personally, I hope they diminish all concerns and totally kill at Bamboozle next Sunday. Then I can feel all warm and happy inside and my ’One Bad Night With IAG’ saga will be just that...one bad night.
Then I can report that rainbows and unicorns come out of Steven’s ass because he’s so magical and everyone will be happy ;)
