I have been in my local union USW 906 for about 10 yrs, it was OCAW, then PACE, then USW. The union i am a member of is not immune to the characteriscal snitches. Even though employees are in the union, they are not immune to telling on everyone in there sight, which i give them hell if i find out they snitch.
I was a shop steward at one time, where I was a relentless in winning alot of my grievances on first step. But, it took alot of studying, federal and state laws as well as contract issues. Now I am on the negotiating committee where it is an uphill battle fighting the company as well as the other committee members, for change. Two meetings ago, I went balistic when the president and the vice president told me I could not change something. Now I have a logical, changing line in the contract changes. I will not in any way relent on the issues fellow members have asked me to persue and attempt to change.
It is of utmost importance for every member of every union to push for change, when pushing is not enough and we are up against a wall, we must get the jackhammer of change and break down the walls of confusion and deliberate company blockage.
At times, I grow tired of the same old undying union and company cohesion that i see alot at the company i work for bunge north america in decatur alabama. I do not agree that the union and the company, any union and any company should be in bed with one another, it defeats the struggle so many have given up so much to make these days possible for someone like me.
So continue to fight the good fight of union solidarity and stop the company from taking more and more away.
bunge north america sent out a memo, stating that the company CLEARED a billion dollars, that is 1,000,000,000,000.00, after they paid all their bills. Amazing, how they did it, apparently off our backs, .
Snitches are like roaches or any other pest, they need to be rooted out and exterminated vote wise from the union membership.
REMEMBER THE STRUGGLE IS NEVER OVER, AND WE MUST KEEP ON FIGHTING, THE FIGHT OF UNION SOLIDARITY AND MAKE THE COMPANIES TAKE NOTICE THAT WE WILL NOT TAKE IT ANY MORE.
