Hey guys,

Happy new year to all!

Brigadier JC presents Sunken Foal and Nexus, live, upstairs in Bakers on Friday 23rd January, for a night of live electronic music.
Doors open at 9 and tax is 7 euro. Make sure you’re there early!

Sunken Foal a.k.a. Dunk Murphy has just released his debut album ’Fallen Arches’ on Planet-Mu Records along with an E.P. ’Fermented Condiments’. He has been making both electronic and acoustic music for over ten years as part of projects such as Ambulance and The Natural History Museum. His music consists of intensely evocative guitar-based electronics, with piano, strings and occasional vocals which build up and then collapse under the weight of digital rhythms that twist and turn at every juncture. His live shows incorporate gently processed guitars, manually triggered heavy distorted rhythms and dense melodic soundscapes with each show as unique as the next.

Nexus is the creative alter ego of Brian Smith, a composer from Dublin, Ireland. Following a few years of musical study, he graduated with music degree in 2007. By this time he was experimenting with composition and decided to move into electronics. He founded the Electronic Music Community in Maynooth in order to hold regular electronic music events at NUIM which included live performances and installations. In 2008 he has performed with the likes of Cignol, Creator, Miles Iwes, T-woc and Solen and has performed at Life Festival in Galway and Mantua Festival in Roscommon. He is a regular performer in the Dublin electronic music scene particularly since developing his own homemade interface which he uses to play live. This interface consists of an illuminated box on which the movements of chess pieces and gameboy cartridges control sound events, this adds an extra visual aspect to his performances.

You can hear his beautiful pieces on his myspace: http://www.myspace.com/nexuscore

Both acts have lived and composed music in Limerick.

I’d like to make it a regular night in order to promote local talents in electronic music.

So please spread the word and support the scene.
