PART ONE: Reptilian Fantasies

CHAPTER 1: The Prophecy

The tide was high, higher than it had ever been. The rays of the setting sun danced across the waves as they broke on the rocks. Below seaside homes and cabins rotted underneath ten feet of water, now a part of the thousands of lost hectares of land along every tideline of planet Gaia, Mother Earth. On a ridge overlooking this vast ocean, a Native American of the First Nations sat cross-legged in quiet contemplation, waiting. The day had been long - the longest of his life. He was a big man, and he had travelled far, over land and sea to arrive at this island. Breathing deep in the silent motionless air, he felt the satisfaction of knowing he had arrived – and was now exactly where he was supposed to be at this moment in time. The fact that he did not know the reason why he was supposed to be here was not relevant. He had heard the Call, and he had answered, and now he simply waited for a sign. To comfort himself, he began to sing an ancient chant his Grandmother had taught him when he was a boy:

“Hey--ya--hey--hey--hey--yo--HO! Great Spirit, our guide. I give thanks for all that is. And for the Light in my heart, and within all of us. This Light shines out into the world to light our paths. One day we will all shine within the Light as equals, and fear will not exist. All will be as One. HO!”

As the wind rose from the trees, he felt the gooseflesh rise on his arms. The sudden burst of wind fluttered several crows who had been basking in the still burning sun, and as their wings danced they angrily cawed at him, blaming him for the rustle of leaves. He knew that Spirit had spoken. It was a good sign – the birds went back to their resting – because it meant the SuperStorms and Earth’s upheavals were also resting; in other words, no massive earthquake or tsunami today. He had lived through the worst. For the past few decades, the massive raising of the Atlantic Ocean bed and the shifting of the Cascadian Teutonic Plates had wrecked havoc and horrific destruction, and that the reporting of 20,000 and 30,000 deaths had become standard news. Years passed before the universal population had been told the truth about sunspots on the Sun that caused Solar Flares, and also, the instability of the Earth’s magnetic core. A massive explosion from a solar flare on the Sun could release as much energy as a billion megatons of TNT, and huge X-class flares were now common events.

For the time being the Earth’s core and magnetic field had somehow stabilized.

There was a time he wouldn’t listen for the signs that came from outer messages and vibrations in the miasma of Great Spirit’s playground, and messages from his inner guidance had been ignored. Too many years of his life had passed in oblivion, until one day he was led to return to his roots, and like his ancestors, follow the whispered footsteps of the Great Spirit. And so he had returned to Spirit then, leaving behind the city and a life of drugs, alcohol, and meaningless diversions. The city had been a U-turn, distracting him from his life’s purpose. So he left with nothing, and naked, he entered into the great lush rainforests of British Columbia. These mysterious dark forests provided a rich cornucopia for the senses, of rain and green, of smells and feelings and sounds from Nature – Mother Nature, that ever-present watcher in the woods. Frightened at first, he clawed the ground until he learned how to sustain himself and found a new way of life. He knew he had to learn the ways of survival and quickly. Complete immersion was the quickest way.

Now, perched on this cliff at the edge of his time, this big brute of a man waited for an important sign, the most important in his life and for the life of the planet. He knew the sign would be unique. He’d been able to find his way through his own personal horror. He knew he was meant to help bring Earth through a horrific event. Prophesied for centuries in Native American folklore and mythology, his Great Grandmother had told him the prophecy:

"When the Eye above two circles of light opens…" he paused, trying to remember. "From this time onward the world will be as a world upside-down. Where gold will be worthless and water will be priceless. Where religion will be in sacredness to the land. Where we will be as animals, on a quest for survival..."

In the distance, above the horizon line and coming out of the east, he spotted a black cloud. Was this the sign? As it drew closer he realized it was a huge mass of birds, all kinds of birds…
