the plan is to build a daily driver/bass race car only spending under $1000 for subs and amps. just to show its possible (I know we wont win or nothin) I want to run two 18’s but the car we have dosnt have room for 2 8 cubic ft boxes so I’m wondering about areo porting. I dont know much about and neither dose any one else i know of. so you do you figure how big the box needs to be and how long the tubes should be. I cant seem to find much info on it any help would be appreated

Subs. 2 MA Audio MA180XE or fi ssd’s depending on budget
amps. 1 sundown 1500 hopefuly depending on money if not then MTX TA4501

i don’t know if those boxes will get that loud in a trunk... do you want this only for spl comps or spl/daily? for comps i would say 3-4 cu. ft. and (4) 6" aeros (face subs up and ports back) as long as the tuning is right.

You’d be better off checking out the aero ports website and using their port calculator instead of the 12 volts website. 12volt.com will be good for getting you your enclosure volumes, but the aeroport website is much better for calculating your port lengths. www.psp-inc.com

And you can build a winning Bass Race/Daily driver system for less than $1000 with no problem. Thats the beauty of Bass Race, you don’t need a high powered expensive system to win, you just have to find a good song and know how to control your volume knob. I have a single 12" sub and a 1500 watt amp I use for a daily system and I took first place at the last 2X Bass Race comp in the 120.0-129.9 class. If you want to compete in the higher classes then more power and subs will be needed, but it’s not necessary if you simply want to win in a class.

Do the seats fold down? If so build a transmission style box(folded slot port) and face it forward sealing off around the edges. Or if its a daily system you can just face it backwards for much deaper bass. You should be able to do the 130-139.9 class with around 1000 watts rms and 2 10’s or 12’s, one battery and a decent alternator. Stepping up your wiring to 0 gauge and 2 batteries will help it be more consistent round after round. Be sure to seal the vent in the trunk or you will lose alot of score.

Actual tuning will vary with power, temperature and how worn the subs are. More power pushes tuning higher, high temps and/or worn subs tend to push it lower.
