Am I the only person who thinks that P.O.D. has lost it? Their new CD "When Angels and Serpents Dance" sucked.

The last 2 albums haven’t been their greatest work. I don’t think they’re horrible, but they’re nothing special. I honestly think The Warriors EP II was much better than Testify (which had a few nice tracks with many not-so nice ones), and it shows that the band is musically capable of creating songs with depth. I think the problem is over production and a lack of fresh idea. On the positive side, consider that the band produce 3 incredible albums in a row: Brown, The Fundamental Elements Of Southtown, and Satellite (I might also include their self-titled album with that streak). It takes a lot for a band to release an unending supply of solid albums, and there are VERY few bands with a flawless record of brilliance. Also, the fact that this was the first album with Marcos back may have played a factor. Still, I do really like the song "It Can’t Rain Everyday".

some people dislike the album, some like it.

i have all of P.O.D.’s albums.

i had to listen to the older stuff (Brown and Snuff the Punk) ALOT for me to like it. I liked more of their new stuff as a became a fan of them when the launched Satellite. I’ve been a fan for 7 years while there are others who have been fans through beginning and till now.

Well I think they just pulled this new CD out to please the fans, however, I was expecting a work of greater quality from them since Marcos is back. Im really looking for a follow up to Satellite or FMEOST, or even Brown...but they are getting more and more careless.

They’ve been a band for 16 years.

Bands do die down in time. Eventually the won’t be able to cut it anymore.

I will dread that day, lol

I don’t think it’s that fatalistic. Good bands die down and never recover. Great bands have rough periods in their career. I’m inclined to believe that P.O.D. is a great band.

Well no matter what I think of WA&SD I am still a warrior but we will have to see. Some really good...great bands didn’t give up when they should’ve and because of that suffered. P.O.D. has to push the bar up or give up really because if they continue to make CDs like that it will only proove that they passed their experation date.

Agreed! There are bands that have been around since the 60s and they’re still doing pretty darn good. Sure, they may have a stretch of a few years where they don’t do so hot, but, in the end, they end up bouncing back. I’m not saying that I think When Angels & Serpents Dance is horrible, but definitely not one of their better ones. Couldn’t we just chalk it up to getting back into the groove of having Marcos back and move on??

as sonny said himself their not the same band they were back in the day playing in the garage, they’re older and life has a habit of mellowing you out. as for waasd, i think it’s great. there are no filler songs and its not over-produced like testify.....though, i do wish they included ’dont fake it’ on the album. i’m surprised they didnt.

p.s. ha ha ha i hope p.o.d. havent sold out like kiss making a comic book - http://www.zondervan.com/Cultures/en-US/Product/ProductDetail.htm?ProdID=com.zondervan.9780310716389&QueryStringSite=Zondervan

I honestly love When Angels and Serpents Dance, it’s an awesome album. I wish there was a little more Reggae and Rap but Sonny really stepped up with the singing and Marcos just went crazy on the guitar. It’s honestly a good album and if given the chance would be number 1.

Well really I guess my biggest concern is that they should no longer be considered "Rock"...WA&SD was no where near that genre.

Well toned down maybe...Look I know sony said they are getting older and becoming a more "mature" band, but compare this album to some of the greater albums they have put out before....this new CD just dosnt make the cut.
