Natasha Duarte and a Bad Days Good Night are awesome. Natasha is 13 years old and wrote the songs and music. Listen to her and her band...

It’s good that you guys are finally playing something different than the usual generic crap that you hear constantly on the radio.

Favourites? bluejuice, The Kooks, City and Colour.

Do the bands have to have videos to make it on Mixtape? If so, then The Getaway Plan. They rock.

If not, then Afraid You’ll Fall. An extremely hard working Canberra band that has been around for years and doesn’t get the recognition they deserve.

In-fucking-deed!

This having been said, you guys already play a lot of the song you put on the mixtape as is. I think that kinda defeats the purpose, right? Because I was under the impression that all this viewer-suggested music means that Channel V is finally returning to its former, non-mainstream-circle-jerking self?

I certainly hope so, because I’m so sick of the same crappy songs like Usher and Flo Rida and whoever else that I can’t name because they all meld together because there are virtually no differences between them.

from what ive watched i havent seen a band i havent heard of

id much rather see a band whos video clip is their mums camcorder that someone like sam sparro that has a fully made video clip.

But it needs more underground music. Sick of seeing the same old artists getting played constantly. As someone said before it’d be good to see something that has been recorded by the artists themselves not some corporate big shot. But other than that I think it’s a great way for the local bands to get some national recognition.

Definitely. I think the problem is that people suggest songs that are basically, a) already on rotation at [V] or have already been on the MixTape before. Take this week for example, October 6, Sex On Fire by Kings of Leon is in there. Sure, its a pretty good song, but it’s been played for the last 2 weeks A LOT and it doesn’t need to be on MySpace Mixtape. I have been suggested the same song regularly because I want them to get exposure in Australia so they can tour here (Los Campesinos! is that band :P) and they haven’t been played yet, even though I know [V] has the video because I remember them playing it in the old days when they had Left Field.

So Channel V, if you see this, stop playing songs you already play regularly outside of Myspace Mixtape! The Mixtape should be reserved for songs that need exposure, not ones that already have exposure! Silly [V]!
