What you can do:

1. Join pro 2nd Amendment groups active in California (or in your area that have branches in CA) and make expansion of carry rights and repealing of excessive regulation of personal carry firearms in CA a priority.

2. Get one or more out of state concealed carry licenses, and if you’re in a good county in California get a CA license! Nevada, Utah, Florida, and Oregon are most common non resident licenses and can be had at reasonable prices. Having your right to carry when traveling is reason enough in itself, but equally importantly it acts as a vote for carry rights in general. In particular the goal is to show the non issuing counties just how far out of line they are with denial of citizens who are qualified for daily carry almost everywhere else out of state but not in their area of residence.

3. Talk to those who are in the firearms community but unaware of concealed carry (and even open carry) rights, those who are on the fence about some aspects of it, or those with little or no experience with firearms at all. People need to get to know us, know the issues and the laws both in CA and elsewhere particularly for comparison, and get more information from our point of view. Everyone has opinions and all those opinions stack up in influencing how things go. It’s better to educate in the open and get things done before the ballots go in the box and the pens hit the paper.

4. Vote, especially in the small local elections. Attend your local city council meetings every month. Yes, I am serious. It’s one or two nights a month for a couple hours tops. 99% of your community doesn’t do it, so by doing so you’re 100x more powerful than the average voter. It cannot be overstated how much we need this.

5. Be visible in your community. Church, social organizations, book clubs, sports, gyms, country clubs, etc. all need to see us as members of their community. We need to be seen every day, not just heard when the stuff is about to hit the fan. We are all everyday people--we need to be seen as such and not a barely existent hypothetical outcast class who can be treated by politicians and bureaurcrats in whatever manner they see fit.

6. If you have a CCW/CHL, show it whenever asked for ID. You’d be amazed at how many people have never seen one. Heck, you paid for it didn’t you? Might as well put it to good use.

7. Talk to people who don’t look like you or the people you associate with 2nd Amendment rights, in fact, the farther from usual the better. What we do really is for everyone, but many people simply have nothing to go by. You are the best spokesman for your rights. It isn’t just words scribbled on paper 200 years ago, it’s right with you every day, and should never be locked away in a safe in your closet and only thought about every other month or so.

8. Get as many people here and to other revelent sites as possible. Spread the word. Silence and keeping to ourselves has never been good to us, and we all know how bad it can get. Let us not have silence, shyness, procrastination, or complacency be our mistakes anymore. Invite your friends and family. Anyone you know is valuable to you. Our cause is preserving the lives we value, so no one should be withheld from the scope of our mission.
