I just ETS'ed after being stop-lossed for 507 days! I was supposed to get out the actual DAY WE DEPLOYED (for my second time). I had everybody in my brigade beat (as far as stop-loss length goes) . Just wondering if there is someone out there that got more screwed than me?

Well, I just started my stop-loss a couple of months ago, my new ETS is Sept. 14 of 09. By my calculations it will be for 630 extra days. Boo.

I made sure to get it in print on my DD-214. "Retained in service 519 days for the conveinance of the government." Maybe not the longest, but decent. FTA.

I was suppose to get out the 10th of July 05 and was stopped lossed 7 days before my terminal leave started. I eventually got out 16 Nov. 06. So yeah thats 15 months. So lets see 365 days in a year plus 93 days for the 3 other months equals 458 days so yeah close but no cigar. Oh well FTA

My husband was stop lossed 3 days before his ETS date. His unit deployed to Iraq 3 months later. 3 days before they were to come home from Iraq, they got involuntarily extended to stay 4 more months. Some guys were already home and were told they had to go back. Some were even on the plane back to the us and turned around. They stayed over 17 months in Iraq. My husband was stop lossed over 22 months, about 660 days. I have no intention of seeing this movie. It sounded good until I read that the main character goes AWOL. My husband was mad as hell he was stop lossed, but he wasn’t going to run away, or leave his friends behind. He worked with these soldiers for over 3 years and was going to go fight with them. I am very proud of him. I am proud of all the soldiers, especiall the ones that go above and beyond their call of duty.

The trailer does not do the movie justice. A lot of people said they would not see it because of that. Even my DH(he was airborne infantry has one year left in the IRR and may be getting orders soon to return to active duty) wasn’t sure he wanted to. We went and it was really good. And VERY realistic. They do not in anyway support going AWOL.

For OIF 05-07 and even if you got stop lossed on your ETS date thats 365 days. You cant be stop lossed for 15 mos, so ya. Just ask the 152nd stryer brigade. But thanks for serving irregardless
