Hey all. I don’t usually post here, but I graduated in 2001 from VSAA not knowing the basics of personal finance, or even what real sustainability was. I certainly didn’t know what "consequences" really meant. I didn’t realize that I could set myself up for failure or success depending upon my actions.
It took me years of work to un-learn a lot of false ideas that were put in my head at that school, and more time to learn why some ideas were true. I’m not saying that I’m a genius, or even qualified, but I know that if I had the opportunity to do it over again, I would have spent more time learning about money at an earlier age. I would have spent more time empowering myself by *doing* something with the little bit of cash I had.
Well, now I’ve got some big things in the works-- I’m having a baby, possibly getting deployed to Iraq, and re-building my life from scratch (again). This time I’ve decided to chronicle the adventure in a
blog dealing with personal finance, sustainable living, frugal living, evironmental conciousness and everything else that goes in to achieving my own goals.
I’m not sure what you can get out of it, but I hope that by observing my own attempt at building a future, that you can get some tips for creating your own future. Some of the older, more successful (than me) people might be able to provide advice to assist me in getting to where I need to be.
A big part of this blog is consequences. Good and bad, they can exert a huge force on your life. I work hard to make sure that a reader can learn how to use consequences to their benefit.
check it out, you might learn something. if not, let it go. If you really like it then bookmark the site and show it to your friends.
Good luck in the future!
Zach
