Okay, let's hear everyone's ideas for a book in 200 words or less as to not gum up the works and make for posts that run too long.
The best way to do this is to write it out in Microsoft Word or some other document program, do a word-count, then copy+paste your 200 words or less proposal into a reply to this topic.
I'll begin with my own proposal:
---------------------------------------------
Her name is Susie Smith, and up until a week ago she was the best-kept secret in the super hero community.
Susie is the illegitimate daughter of her world’s two top super beings, conceived from a drunken one-night stand at a hero Christmas Party. Knowing that the scandal would shake the super hero community and ruin their lives, thee two heroes hid the pregnancy in an elaborate scheme and gave Susie up for adoption to a married hero couple that was ready to retire.
Now age twenty-two and soon graduating college, Susie is faced with super human abilities she never knew that she had. The combined might of her parents makes her the deadliest and potentially most powerful super being on the planet. Anyone who finds out about her will want a piece, and her real parents will do anything to keep their secret . . . Even if that means turning to their oldest foes.
Betrayed by everyone around her, Susie will have to either accept her powers and her legacy or become the pawn in someone else’s game. But all she wants to do is read a good book and stay at home with her cat.

uh... yea... try check um out.. i was bored... jus so u kno, Ikaika means Strong, and Hekili means Thunder
In the year 2400, a Military scientist named Ikaika Hekili began trying to invent newer weaponry other than Guns, he wanted something that would shock the world.
he began with 2 weapons, one that can alter sound waves creating a “sonic voice”, and a pair of gloves that could actually manipulate the elements of the Periodic Table.
he told his partner, Jeremy Waters, of his success with the gloves, out of jealousy, Jeremy stole the schematics for creating the gloves, and made a single alteration, giving them the ability to suck the life force out of living things and pass their physical attributes to him.
Jeremy had almost killed Ikaika by sucking the life from him, and he cut his hands off, and left him for dead, Ikaika yelled for help before passing out, he woke up in the hospital, and the doctors were attaching the gloves he had created to his limbs, they explained that using his nerves he could use the gloves as his normal hands.
Ikaika sought revenge, armed with his Atomic Gloves, and his incredibly loud voice, nothing will stand in his way of getting revenge on his partner.

man 200 is tough.
This is presuming we can jump the tracks of the established spy/superhero genre piece we are starting from. Word count stars in 3...2...1
1. Gray Aliens: warm, big eyed “close encounters of the third kind” types. They monitor Earth, cruising the planet to check out life forms, take notes on changes in human and animal culture, living conditions, conduct interviews with the natives and then integrate this into a documentary project they are doing about ‘Noble Bald Monkey Men on Planet X’ (working title).
2. Green Aliens: resemble the Grays in appearance, & have a mean streak. They think these Bald-Monkey-Whats-its need a kick in the pants. Humans would be excellent cannon fodder for THE upcoming interstellar war-games, and be even better candidates if they could be “nudged up” the evolutionary ladder. Wings perhaps? (“Nothing looks finer than a flaming, twisting man-form spiraling down to ground…Excellent for dipping afterward also.”)
Green’s want to corrupt the residents of planet X as much as possible; abduction, forced interspecies sex, war mongering, genetic tampering, etc. Added bonus, they hate the “do goody” attitude of the Greys…
3. Harvey Shiltz, a pharmacy manager from Big Tuna Texas. Raised an orphan, though historically he’s the one successful result of forced interspecies sex between a Green, a Human and a Canadian Grey Goose. He’s not going to find this out until tomorrow, when the warships begin to arrive, and he meets his half-biological mother.

all right, here goes...
Four wanna-be heroes living in NYC:
Green Thumb: holds the power over plants.
The Mime: abilty to create force-fields around herself and other objects.
The Clapper: when he claps his hands, the force is that of an F-5 tornado
Tom Trick: a vagrant with "magical powers of illusion"
(Think David Blaine or Criss Angel, if they looked like the Uni-bomber)
All four of our "heroes" have crappy lives, but when they don their masks, they feel important.
They're typically looked down on by the "real" heroes, such as Dagger, Scorch, Mrs. Miracle, Sleepwalker, and PT.
but when a threat arrives that is too much for them to deal with, they must seek out the wanna-bes for help.
and it will change all of their lives, forever.

The scenario is somewhere in India or Africa.... 2077 (later...??) or so.
It's a dark, dystopian future.., with pockets of utter wealth and ease, jarring in its contrast to the pain and want of most common people.
There is a immensely connected, wealthy and controlling science mogul type..., who came by his stunning wealth and position by being the bringer of many initial ideas, products, and social improvements with his beyond genius level innovation with genetics.
His public persona is generally quite benevolent, altho distant and controlling.
In his heart of hearts..., he has a MUCH darker psyche - altho he is NOT malicious in his intentions - just nearly psychotically sure of HIS ideas and plans being THE RIGHT WAY. Common morality (and mortality....) are mere inconveniences to him mostly.
He bases most of his most frightening, controversial activities where he is (India?Africa?) as it grants him just about COMPLETE autonomy.
He has secretly decided to move forward with a long held idea of the manipulation of the genetic make up of people.
There is also a stunning ability that he has secretly developed, which allows him unmatchable reach and influence in the various areas of politics, science and global economics.....
But he realizes he cannot do it ALL alone....
He starts to manipulate (with his stunning secret ability...)the peripheral lives of several candidates he has selected, to draw them to him.
Several are youthful individuals, either borderline or outright criminals, but with the requisite qualities most desired by the scientist (intelligence, determination.., whatever...).
The far reaching and mysterious plans of our main character, and how the lives - not to mention the very BODIES and minds - of those HE has chosen are FOREVER changed, and in doing so brings an entirely new chapter to a far away, yet oh so close future of frighteningly limitless possibities... all with their own cost and price to humanity.... are the people and storys told in the well detailed and planned out world i have created in my comic -
" Blood Breed " Curious...? Wanna help me realize/ contribute to it...??
I can't do it ALL alone........

Her name was Nakita.
Siberian winds blew her along .
Six years old her parents had been super heroes.
Hidden in the cold tundra from harm. Nakita knew the cold.
Making her way to home , she heard a noise unlike any she had ever heard She came in sight of the home she had always known. A giant bird blowing snow everywhere. Not knowing what she was seeing Nakita made a dash to see why this thing was here. As she walked she heard screaming , saw her father thrown to the snow , shot before her eyes. Her mother was drug , into the snow , lay face down , Nakita knew all was lost as she ran . Nakita saw her mother ‘s eyes look at her once more, before she fell to the earth with a whoosh. Nakita screamed , carried to the bird left to see her parents dead . The helicopter rode into air and yesterday, flooded into today as Nakita came to herself at the United Nations Embassy in Siberia. Alive , grown , superhero of today as she remembered.
Never forgetting yesterday and always waiting for her chance to avenge her family.

I like the idea of a dark brooding hero as he travels throughout the Middle East and Asia on some self-sabbatical to try to understand why all the horrible things that happen in the world, do happen. Possibly his "power" could be to give "reality" a nudge in a more positive direction or perhaps just a plain man just doing his best to make it in a quasi-apocalyptic world. The setting gives us an opportunity to introduce a great amount of diverse characters with deep, rich backgrounds. Throw in all the potential for a futuristic, paranoid, anarchistic, dark world; where there is a new world order of feudal warlords and self proclaimed dictators using whatever force and clout they possess to control the food, medicine, and other vital supplies of life that they then glut upon, leaving scraps for the majority. The US has helped develop the third world to the point that they have bankrupted America, sinking them into a depression that has lasted for x amount of time. Vast metropolitan regions that grew from America's funding are now abandoned from the result of an actual biological weapons attack that killed 10's of millions throughout the world almost instantly. I feel that this kind of setting allows for a glimpse of what seems to be a very probable future in real life. I think that addressing real world events in this kind of manner helps set readers to be more sympathetic to the Anti-hero with the grim, dirty, do anything just to try to make the world a better place and still survive, attidude. I think that it would be kinda cool to have the "Hero" in the story be almost pedestrian in the fact that he is not an action hero, but the converse, a Non-action hero. Strange things like a robbers gun jamming, or a mewing cat leads him to a sink hole/well where a little girl is trapped kinda thing. Almost a luck or twist of fate kinda karmic law around this guy. This character (doesn't have to be a guy) is the catalyst that all of this occurs around. They don't interfere with the situation, but as if through just them observing events alters them to give the feeling of hope in this foreboding dismal world.

how about having a single superhero who comes from a parrallel universe/ or from the future. Instead of being in a physical body the superhero can travel by touch through individual people has no specific form only the form of his/ her host. OUr superhero can use everyday people like you , and I to do his/ her assignments or tasks so we look like the hero.

Ok, the story 200 words or less...
In a midwestern town in middle America somewhere, a child is found in the middle of tall dry grasses by a wheat farmer. The baby is crying. The farmer reaches down to pick it up. As he lifts the baby, he calls toward the wife who is washing dishes in the house. He consoles the what looks like a normal baby but as he brings the child toward his shoulder, he notices the back of the baby is covered in a slimy goo that resembles a mysterious mucousy slime. The man begans to scream because the goo begins to eat through the flesh of the hand touching the goo like an acid.
His wife runs from the house and frantically does not know how to react. She runs inside to call the ambulance.
The man drops the child back into the basket and is frantic.
When the ambulance gets there...
(Is that 200 words already?)

The setting is a post industrialized planet in a parallel galaxy, where humans have just broken the genetic code for all biological life within 300 million light years. There are several wars on their front. Mind altering substances that destroy the biological mechanism are rampant among the youth killing them before their time by the hundreds of thousands, the development of thermonuclear technology for the purpose of destruction is at its height and the war for genetic supremacy as a covert operation has come to light.
The plot: To destroy evil and save universal biogenetics for what it's worth. Only
YOU can save their planet.
The characters: You, the present and future generations who will read this comic

In a time when Superheroes are all but extinct, the United Nations issue a military project to create artificial super-humans to defend the Earth, but what they created was the next generation of maverick super-humans beant on the world's end...save for one. His codename is simply "Z", the only one of these mavericks who actually wishes to be a hero, to this end he goes against his "brothers and sisters" and becomes the only one who can stop these monsters.
But along the way, he unintentionally becomes an infamous being feared by the public, making his newfound career as "the Last True Superhero" all the more difficult, on top of that new Supervillains are starting to come out of the woodwork. Now Z finds himself alone with the mantle of justice, the sole defender of the world as we know it. Even with his unique super-human ability to drastically slow down time for a few fleating moments, the odds are still not in his favor as he must fight the continuingly growing population of Supervillains that now infests this planet. These are the chronicles of "Zeshadow"!
