We had a great turnout for our first meeting of the new year on Tuesday night, with over 40 showing up to hear Lori Lipman Brown of the Secular Coalition for America. Lori's story is interesting and inspiring, and her work as a lobbyist on our behalf in Washington leaves no doubt that humanist/secularist activism has been turned up a notch in recent years.
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, February 12, which happens to be Darwin Day, at 7 p.m. Our guest speaker will be Prof. Abigail Hafer, whose presentation is entitled "Unintelligent Design." A perfect topic for Darwin Day indeed.
Also, on Tuesday, March 11, at 7 p.m., we will be having a panel of secular student activists, including guests from Harvard, Bates, Brandeis, and Bentley. They'll be talking about humanism/secularism on campus, and perhaps we'll get some insight on how we can get campus groups going in Worcester-area colleges.
