I was going to wait to cover some of this in A.I., but its early information rather than exclusive information, so I figured Id launch it out here a bit as well. Hopefully by the time AI launches Ill find some more info regarding this for the Market Report, so check there at a later date.

Essentially, it seems that WalMart will have an exclusive War Machine figure in the Iron Man line. I cant personally attest to how true this is, but I can say the figures mold does resemble Iron Man Movie armor, and at a glance looks very clean. The point there is that it appears authentic and not phony. Its also been my experience that a lot of toy prototypes originate in Singapore, but that can be sketchy intel for SO MANY REASONS. Here is a pic of the item:

Photobucket

I also have reason to believe that the Stealth Armor will be available in this line, and if the War Machine armor is molded in the same context as the movie style, then its likely that the Stealth Armor will be as well. So the info is one part toy announcement and one part possible movie intel that maybe... MAYBE War Machine and the Stealth armor appear in the movie.

I just want to add two small bits of personal experience into my report about this as well to sort of reiterate that there is speculation involved in this news.
1. It was heavily implied directly to me by several cast members that War Machine does not appear in this movie, but that the stage is set for it. This could have been lack of knowing on their part, or just misdirection.

2. It is possible that the Stealth Armor makes some kind of appearance in the movie, because there is a mild correlation to the movie related merchandise. First, the video game trailer had a brief scene featuring this armor, and now the news of the toy in the second wave of Iron Man Movie figs.

Thats all for now, but check the next Advanced Iron for more when the issue comes out. Also, if anyone has any intel they can give me on any of this, please let me know and Ill verify it to the best of my ability and report on it in the zine.

Also a quick follow up regarding something else I heard through the grapevine. Again, note that I havent been able to verify this yet, but theres news that the face under the faceplate of the Mark II armor toy (more or less, the unpainted armor) is that of Rhodey! I cant say precisely what this says about the movies plot, but

SPECULATION WARNING!!!!

maybe Rhodey helps Stark with an armor design, Stark goes on to build the Modern Armor, and the test armor that Rhodey wears goes on to somehow become the War Machine armor. Again this is pure speculation for conversational purposes and all that Ive been told is that Rhodey is the face under the armor in this toy:

Ah!
Badass!
I bet I'll get him and Iron Man.
But IMO he won't appear. Lots of toylines add such characters jush to flesh out a relatively small movie cast.
IE: Vengance (Ghost Rider), Lizard (Spider-Man), many, many Transformers, and so on.

Very astute and very true, bud! But the questionable thing here is that War Machine not only appears on an Iron Man Movie Toy Line card (as opposed to an Iron Man Classics card for example), and the War Machine armor is molded much like the movie armor (as opposed to the comic book armor, with smooth plates and joints, so on and so forth).

So yes, there is some speculation going on here, but Im pointing out some of my rationale for speculating in the first place. Good observation on your part though too!

Weird, but they DO have the chest beam, which may be perfect for just that...... not that I'd been thinking of it...

Doubt that the face plate is even removeable for the Mark 2 because it would be off like the Tony Stark one and it would also be listed as a feature like the firing missle.

QFT, very true. it is indeed one solid head, no helmet or faceplate is removable for this figure.

as for the war machine armor, it is a wal-mart exclusive listed as Stealth Operations Iron Man as listed on the ebay page the picture is from.

forgot one thing.

there will be versions of the suit that appear in the game (ie. not in the movie) included in the toyline.

this also from thefwoosh.com:-

The card back features:
Iron-Monger, Iron-Monger II (chest & upper shell removes to reveal Obediah Stane!!), and Stealth Operations Iron Man, which is freaking War-Machine!! Down to shoulder-cannons & wrist guns!! The catalog shows the various role-playing stuff, 12" figure, Superhero Squad (Classic IM, Tony Stark, Silver Centurion, 1st Appearance, Titanium Man, Crimson Dynamo, War Machine!) and ALSO the regular figures: Mark I (original), Mark II (same as III but all silver), Prtotype (the one with removable/interchangable pieces!) Mark III, and Iron-Monger I & II...BUT the back of it lists those, PLUS (Not Shown!) TITANIUM MAN!!!!

So that's all I've got... for now : )

I'd like to know if IRON MONGER can fly? Otherwise what we'll see is one on one combat on the ground in the upcoming film?

War Machines eyes are blue and so is his chest, like the picture I made. Psssh to the guy who complained because I didn't make his eyes red.
