Jude Deveraux's Highland quartet is a big favorite with me, too. Real classics.
Also Skye O'Malley by Bertrice Small, Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, both big influences for me.

Smootches to Denise Lynn :), who writes excellent medievals. Her Falcons are worth a sleepless night or two!
Since some of my favorites have already been mentioned, I'll add on instead of being redundant.
Paula Quinn
Elizabeth Hoyt
Cheryl St. John
(and all these ladies are on MySpace)
If you like westerns, Harlequin Historicals are the place to look for them!
Betina Krahn
Victoria Alexander (I think I've read every one of hers.)
I just know that as soon as I hit post I'll think of about a dozen more authors I should name.
Aren't you glad historicals are back "IN"? I sure am!

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte is one of my all-time favorite historicals - although for her it was a contemporary. :)
Persuasion by Jane Austen (same deal)
Born To Be King by Constance Gluyas
The King's Brat by Constance Gluyas
I like Bertrice Small's historicals too.

Anything by Julia Quinn. Her books make me laugh, cry and fall just a little bit in love each time I pick up one of her books.
I started the third book in her Bridgerton series not knowing that it was a series at the time, but since then I got any and everyone that I could get my hands on.
I love her

There are so many books I love, but the two that always come to mind as my all-time favorites are:
Marsha Canham, "The Last Arrow" (book three of the Robin Hood Trilogy)
and.....
Marsha Canham, "Across a Moonlit Sea".
All of Marsha’s books are wonderful, but these two I have read several times each.

I have all of Johanna Lindsey’s and Victoria Alexander’s books and loved every one of them. I am now trying to read all of Jodi Thomas’ and I absolutely love her.
I also like: Julia Quinn, Tereisa Medeiros, and Hannah Howell but Historicals are my very favorite romance books.

Well there have been some great authors mentioned but I have a few more suggestions.
Diane Gaston - her books always make me laugh and her characters have such flare.
Elizabeth Rolls - "Sigh" I love her heroes. I think she is quite good with the timing and delivery of her stories.
Elizabeth Lane - Oh, I can’t go by a small airport without thinking of On the Wings of Love. Great book and I love her westerns too!
Kate Bridges - Mmmmmm love her Canadian Mounties, actually anything of hers set in Alaska have been great. She has one coming out next month, Alaskan
Renegade
Deb Marlowe - There is just something about her style that sucks me in and grabs my heart, each and every one of her books.
Deb Hale - One of my favorites was Bride Ship but I have each of her titles on my keeper shelf, including the ones she wrote for LUNA, the fantasy line of Harlequin.
Margaret Moore - Besides what has already been mentioned, her Warrior’s series was great. I haven’t read it yet but I’ve heard her Harlequin Historical Undone eBook is really good. The Welsh Lord’s Mistress.
Michelle Styles - Her Gladiator books are excellent. I loved her Historical Christmas story too. The title escapes me at the moment but I can clearly remember the cover art. Beautiful just like the story.
Julia Justiss - Such rich characters and storylines! I love her books.
Nicola Cornick - She is one of my automatic buy authors. I have never been disappointed yet and I own them all.
and Hi Denise "waving" I second Shari on saying Denise Lynn is an author to definitely read.
I could go on and on but maybe it would be easier if you checked out my bookshelves on either GoodReads or Shelfari.
