Who We Are

We stand for living, Biblical, progressive faith and new ideas that are fresh for a country ready for change. We believe in standing up for the values of Jesus.

We don’t believe the gospel’s signature issues are abortion, homosexuality, torture, selfish greed or a militaristic foreign policy. Rather, they are poverty, open-hearted spirituality and love for God and all his creation. We believe that Jesus was a man of compassion, generosity of spirit and love for the downtrodden – and that he stood against the strong and powerful.

What We Do

The Institute for Progressive Christianity is a vibrant and growing Institute – a think tank, and the home of a host of new ideas. At the IPC, we are constantly creating ideas and crafting messages that seek to shape a more authentic Christianity in the marketplace. We are standing up to that onslaught of the value-less Christian Right with only the Biblical message of Jesus in our hands. But we believe it works.

We produce press releases, messaging resources ideas and conferences that offer a fresh new approach to Christian belief and action.

CrossLeft is our online community of bloggers, activists, and committed progressive Christians who work together to bring about change. Currently we are hosting an online progressive faith debate.

How will it help you?

If you are interested on a progressive Christian attitude to today’s politics and tomorrow’s elections, if you are a minister struggling to understand a fully faithful Christian message to your congregation, or if you are simply a church member trying to make sense of your faith, we can help. IPC has a monthly press release on contemporary issues, and an archive of information. CrossLeft is a thriving and active online community where we have many ongoing discussions. We produce trainings and symposiums on subjects you need to know about – and to know where you stand.
