Does MySpace hate Jesus, or just me?
October 15th, 2007
Well, it has been just over a month since my MySpace group (the Jesus Lovin’ Church of MySpace), with 38,000 members, mysteriously vanished from MySpace.
It was one of the most vibrant and spiritually alive groups on MySpace, with a great community of folks that wrestled with their faith and loved on one another. A lot of people found comfort and solace there that they could not find anywhere else.
The name has been reassigned to some dude who now uses the group to spam other people.
I have sent over one dozen emails to MySpace, with no significant response. Nothing about violating any terms of service, nothing about the group being hacked, nothing. Silence.
How could this happen you ask?
Well, the only thing I can figure, is that about one week before the group disappeared, I was interviewed for about 45 minutes on “Humble O Radio” about the group and what I feel like God was calling us to on MySpace.
Is this the way MySpace works? It wouldn’t suprise me.. It has been overrun by porn and spam, and MySpace has made it harder than ever to report it.
I can only surmise that they feel like the smut they allow brings regular viewers (and thus more potential clicks for their advertisers), and that our group stood in direct contrast to their own organizational interests.
It’s sad… I guess they can do whatever they want… I know it is their site…
Somewhere in the back of my head, I knew that this would eventually happen.
If anyone from MySpace would like to get on the stick and return my calls our emails, feel free!
I’ll be more than happy to post their resposne here in it’s entirety.
