Sidney Toler was the best Charlie Chan, in my opinion. He made the most movies as Charlie Chan and was the only one to have substantial success in the role after Warner Oland. No one else after Sidney seemed as natural in the role and were not as acclaimed (by fans and critics alike). Warner Oland deserves credit for originating the role, but I like to watch Sidney Toler the most because he not only played the part of Charlie Chan well...he didn't just impersonate Oland; he added his own touches to the character.

I must say that Roland Winters’ characterization of Charlie Chan left a lot to be desired. :) I watched his films because they were Charlie Chan movies, but he
was not as good as the previous two Chan actors.
