I was recently asked when is it ok to miss a gospel meeting? Specifically, is it ok to miss it when there is a grade for school in question?

As a teacher, I would say, what did you do to prepare ahead of time? Many times students wait too long to get started on an assignment. Ask the question, would you miss a baseball game or even practice for the same thing? Most people wouldn't even think about that. They would do all in their power to get the assignment completed to make it to the game or practice or even make an excuse for not doing the work. For the last 3 years of band camp(all so far) have fallen the same week as our gospel meeting. My daughter would be tired and we knew the following day would be the same. However, we went every night. In conclusion, I would say do what you can ahead of time. Talk with the teacher (many of us will understand if this isn't an ongoing thing of not turning in work). If not, what is more important in the long run one grade out of the millions or your eternity? Remeber you are setting an example for your child so when they grow up they will not out work before God.
