What a disappointment. Jeff created a world in the first two books for Dexter to live in and then in the third book he picked up this world and shook it until it looked like something out a Steven King novel. Ancient evil demons living inside people? blah! Why ruin such an original series and character by adding such an ordinary and boring thing like evil demons!?

If that wasn't bad enough why are we to believe that the strongest killing entity ever to exist is located in Miami? Jeff, you could have brought us to Paris on Dexter's honeymoon to introduce this "IT" (hmmm, where have I heard the term "IT" before?) at least then it would make a little more sense.

One out of five stars for Dexter in the Dark.

i agree that the whole god and demon thing was pretty farfetched. i do think however that jeff simply wanted to do something different. id imagine that its hard to come up with a killer that keeps our attention over and over like in the first two books. eventually, that theme would get old. i also loved the whole "IT" passages as well. something like that wouldnt have a name in the beginning so why give it one now? i actually loved the book up until the last chapter or two. i also felt dexter didnt kill enough other monsters, but ehhh oh well i guess. in overall reality, it fails to compare with the first two but overall id put it as only slightly worse than the other. 3.5 out of 5 for me while the other were a 4.5 or 5 out of 5. i really wanna read those again now
