So after a sad visit to BK last month...i have to spread the news that the PX and Commisary are non-existant, that includes much of housing. Bad Kreuznach finally decided to make luxury apartments out of housing. Which is better then them looking like ghosthouses...but still very sad. I can't really tell what is happening to the high school and the hospital, since it completely closed off...except a little whole in the fence, which I was to scared to crawl through. According to the sign on the fence it private property now. :( Bad Kreuznach went through tough times after the americans left...but now has picked itself up and is beginning to boom in tourism. oh, and the elementary school has become a german elementary school. The camping place is totally run down and the playground and the outdoor rec on Kuhberg as well. They did built some kind of confidence course behind the outdoor rec. Nahe club is gone, but where TLF was they built a mongolian grill/buffett. Rose Barracks is still closed off. The airfield is also gone and bears lots of big supermarkets and fast food businesses. Dexheim is almost closed completely. Downtown BK still looks the same with almost the same stores in the same places...even the Bahnhof is still that same bugger green. Haha...I guess some things haven't changed.

Thanks for the update. It's nice to know that they are at least starting to do something with the town.

Giessen closed this year... but they did open a new post and school down near Hohenfels which they opened a few years before BK closed. Lots and lots of changes.

So after two years, I have been back to BK recently. I am happy to say that they are fixing up the Housing and where the PX was, they are building a shopping center. Rose Barrack is getting re-done for office spaces. It all looks neat and bittersweet.
Also Ramstein got mall with a Macaroni Grill. I am excited. I remember how it was a big deal when Ramstein got the new BX and now they build this huge mall. Man, I am getting old.
