Well my girlfriend and I went and saw the movie last night. It finally came to springfield. What is funny is that no one in there smoked. They just went to watch it. As soon as it went out her and I walked outside and lit one up. I know that is not the point but it is funny. This movie was really good. I am just curious why people say smokers are not friendly at all? We are. If you tell us not to light one up near you, we won't. We will go driving from a family or friends house just to have a cigarette so it doesn't bother you. My friend Tristan and his wife just had a baby. He stopped smoking for the kid. So you can't say we are assholes or anything else for that matter. Like the movie said, what about cheese? High cholesterol (excuse my spelling, I just woke up lol) and other fatty foods. That is the number one killer. It is simple. Just ask us not to smoke and we will be glad to say "Yes sir/mam". Don't go all political on us. We aren't stupid like everyone seems to think we are. I am cutting back slowly and slowly. The more you try to ban the more we will get mad. When the ban does kick in, cops will def. be hitting their mark for the day arresting citizens left and right. There is nothing really else to say. Heh. Everyones opinions are welcome. :) Happy easter to everyone by the way.

This is pretty funny. I got shifted to warehouse at Eby Brown. A shipping company of foods and cigarettes. So we went through the warehouse today trying to find a place to put me and the other new guy. Well we stopped at cigarettes and the manager said "Do you smoke?" I said "Yes I do" She said "Great, you will do good here since you know what is what" So now I am shipping tobacco products. I can now say I work for the tobacco industry. I am proud of it. Smoking actually got me a job. So I can say it is helping my life little by little.

Exactly. Its amazing. What about parents not raising their kids right? What about all the stuff besides tobacco that is worse? No one looks around anymore. They settle on one thing and judge it. If we do in fact have a great government then why do they go after 1 thing and not everything else? We have enough people in the U.S.A to help out with most the issues.

completely agree with you guys. no smoker should ever have to feel like a serial killer for having a smoke. i'm tired of being scoffed by non-smokers while having a smoke OUTSIDE. i am not harming you. and the other thing is, i'm not harming the environment nearly as much as you driving around that school bus that you call an S.U.V. those damn things emit more toxic fumes into the air than i will ever emit from my lungs in my entire life. and to Mandy...the girl who posted the reply a few people up....you're not allergic to cigarette smoke. i promise you that. just because it makes you nauseous does not mean you're allergic to it. that's like me saying i'm allergic to beer....if i drink enough of it...i'll get nauseous. total bullshit.

I used to be against smoking...but i was young. I've only been smoking for about two years, and i'm still healthy. this past spring i ran a MILE in the fastest time i've ever run it (under 6 minutes) and i still play Soccer and Softball, and both of those sports involve a LOT of running! I've worked in resturants where there's smoking, and people are always bitching about it. And it's there choice to eat there! there are PLNETY of non-smoking resturants in my area. One city near me has out-lawed smoking! I'm fine with having to go smoke outside...i can understand not smoking inside...but some people are going WAY to far!

Here in NY, smoking has been banned from all indoor public places. (Although, I believe you can still get a smoking room in a hotel). I believe the biggest impact was felt on the bar/club owners. Thankfully, I quit smoking so I no longer have to deal with it.

I am also allergic to smoke. I've met a few people who will stop smoking or move away from me when I tell them, but I've also had a pregnant girl yell at me and tell me that it is impossible to be allergic to tobacco smoke. Wow.

It really isn't the people (unless they're dumb like that girl) that bother me. It is the smoke. Smoke doesn't stop when the smoking section ends. I've had to stop going to many restaraunts and activities since I developed this allergy, because some people think the smoking section retains smoke and can't get to me if they're in it. I can barely stand to be in an elevator with some smokers, it is just so bad.

Many people TRY to be nice and think they're being curteous when they're around nonsmokers and those allergic, but there is way more than people realize. I love places with indoor smoking bans, especially bans that exclude places like bingo halls and bars. I'm fine without going there, and smokers can do whatever they want in those places or outside, but when I go to places like Lexington, KY, I can breathe AND eat out at the same time. It is quite a concept many take for granted.

For the last time....you are NOT allergic to cigarette smoke. If you are allergic to anything, it would be smoke in general. I highly doubt that you are, though. You most likely just don't like it. Leave it at that. And the other thing is, even if you are allergic to it, you should have learned by now to avoid it. I'm allergic to many things that restrict my freedoms and hobbies. I still have to avoid doing the things I like because of the risk of an allergic reaction. And sure, there are plenty of inconsiderate smokers out there, and stupid ones as well. (i.e. The pregnant woman.) But don't blame us for your lack of reason when it comes to preventing allergic reactions. If you are in a restaurant, ask to be seated as far away from smoking as possible, trust me, they'll oblige. And as for any place else that allows smoking, don't go. Know your limits.

Actually, it is tobacco in general, according to my doctor. I just don't have any reactions until it is in the smoke form, because I stay away from the plant or any solid form, or I'll break out in hives. When around the smoke, my throat constricts, my eyes water, and I've passed out many times. Sure, I don't like it. I don't like what it does to my body.

True, but many allergies, like an allergy to grass, are unavoidable. Grass will always be there. Tobacco smoke, on the other hand, is there because someone made a choice to smoke it. It is their choice, but they can choose not to in a public setting.

I live in a town that is quite big on smoking. As for restaraunts, I have to stick to places like Chuck E. Cheese if I want to go out where people don't smoke. You see kids light up as soon as they get out of school-- in middle school. It is quite rediculous. I didn't say it was anyone's fault, or that I am mad at them. It is their choice to make whether to smoke or not. I didn't ask for a ban on cigarettes all together. On the contrary, I wouldn't believe that was fair or right at all. Actually, even if there was one "smoke free night" for public places like restaraunts, once a week, or even once a month, I would be overjoyed. I don't hate people for making a choice that they have the right to make. It seems like I'm blamed more for my allergy than I've blamed anyone for making me sick, actually.

There is no human antigen to tobacco. Humans cannot be alergic to tobacco smoke.
Other ingredients in the smoke perhaps, but also very doubtful.
Some people have respiratory trouble that smoke, all smoke, can irritate.
But you are not alergic to it.

This is true. SHS can bother asthymatics at close range and too much smoke can be irritating even to a smoker, but allergies to the smoke. No. Good ventilation in an area where there are no smokers is really all a person needs to be comforatable and not have any problems with SHS . Smokers and Non should be able to get along. They have in the past with much worse ventillation and many more people smokeing so why the big stink about it now? I think too many people are feeling too angry and afraid and need to take it out on someone. Oh, and yeah, smokers ARE some of the most friendly people you will meet. That is because we have found something to take the edge off unlike all you I'm afraid to do anything or I'll die types.
