Parkdale Arts and Crafts Festival

In early 2006 the Parkdale Liberty Economic Development Corporation (PLEDC) made the highly successful switch in our summer event programming from a traditional Farmers Market, to an outdoor arts and cultural fair, filled with young vibrant artists and craftspeople. The new event titled the Parkdale Arts and Crafts Festival (PACF) was staged on three dates during the summer of 2006. The objective of the festival is to continue in the tradition of contributing to the revitalization of the Parkdale/Liberty community, by bringing in people from all across the Greater Toronto Area to participate in our local economy. The 1st Annual Parkdale Arts and Crafts Festival was held on July 22nd, August 26th and September 16th 2006. Further plans for 2007 will see PACF go through an additional change, namely condensing the three dates into one weekend on July 14th and 15th 2007 in the Parkdale Town Square area.

PACF is comprised of three zones, an Art Sale – featuring arts and crafts vendors; Exhibitions – live music performances on an outdoor stage; and a Children’s Crafts Zone. We are staffed primarily through a volunteer program that engages members of community to become active players in the neighbourhood’s revitalisation, fully participating in the festival.

PACF ’07 is free for all to attend, and as a result no revenue stream is attached to this project. In the past, locally involved companies and volunteers were gracious enough to donate their time and materials to the festival.
