The Tools:
Selection Tool
Keyboard Shortcut: V
This is just your basic/default tool. When in use, you can click and drag to select a specific area, click to select one object, or double click to go inside an object.
Subselection Tool
Keyboard Shortcut: A
This tool is used to select specific individual points along a vector graphic. It can be used to transform a basic shape once it is drawn on the stage.
Freetransform Tool
Keyboard Shortcut: Q
This tool is used to squew, squish, stretch, and re<myspace>
size</myspace> an object.
Gradient Transform Tool
Keyboard Shortcut: F
When a gradient color is places on the stage it can be selected with this tool and then rotated, stretched, squished just like with the Transform tool.
Lasso Tool
Keyboard Shortcut: F
When a gradient color is places on the stage it can be selected with this tool and then rotated, stretched, squished just like with the Transform tool.
Line Tool
Keyboard Shortcut: N
Simple enough, this tool draws a line. Hold Shift to draw a horizontal/vertical/45 deg line. Change its color with the Stroke color.
Pen Tool
Keyboard Shortcut: P
Similar to Photoshops pen tool. This can be used to to draw curved and tangent lines.
Text Tool
Keyboard Shortcut: T
Type text with this tool. Can be used to create static, dynamic, or input text fields.
Shape Tools
Keyboard Shortcut: R, O
Can be used to make basic shapes like ovals, rectanlges or polygons. Hold shift while drawing to make all sides equal length.
Pencil Tool
Keyboard Shortcut: B
Create smooth tapered brush strokes.
Ink Bottle Tool
Keyboard Shortcut: S
Use this to change stroke color, width, and <myspace>
style</myspace> of lines or shape outlines.
Paint Bucket Tool
Keyboard Shortcut: K
Similar to MS Paints paint bucket tool. This is used change the fill color of objects and shapes.
Eye Dropper Tool
Keyboard Shortcut: I
Used to select a color any where on the work screen.
Eraser Tool
Keyboard Shortcut: E
Used to erase drawn raw/drawn objects on the stage.
Hand Tool
Keyboard Shortcut: H
Used to drag the stage around so that you can get a better view of different areas.
Zoom Tool
Keyboard Shortcut: Z, Ctrl + Alt + Space (Zoom Out)
This tool is used to zoom in or out on your workspace.
Colors
This can be used to select the fill or stroke color of an object to be drawn. You can select the two colors to be black and white, switch the two colors, or make no color.
