Seriously what was going through Jeeps head when they decided to pull this crap. Not only is the new Jeep JK a city Jeep but now they make a 2wd version. I dont mind that they make all these city jeeps like the liberty, compass, commander and patriot. I think that is a great way for them to make their money but while they are selling those they should try and keep the wrangler true to its roots. what does everyone else think.

Its not really a Jeep is it? I had a friend who had a nice grand cherokee and got stuck in her driveway after a snow. IT WAS 2WHEEL DRIVE! I couldnt believe it!

2wd jeeps have pretty much always been around Yj’s and TJ’s anyway.

Well....The Wrangler should definitely stick to its rugged roots and stay true to the jeep name but I have a Compass which I will agree it is a city jeep but I have 4wd option on it...which might i add has been very helpful in bad weather...anyways, thats how I feel and that’s coming ffrom a "City"Jeep owner..lol

Well, in my younger-years I snapped the rear driveshaft on my 89 Cherokee.. so I put it in 4WD and drove it for months as a front wheel drive jeep.

yeah, let’s put actual thought into this. i grew up 1 mile down the road from the Badlands in Indiana. So, let’s not even question my dedication to jeep and 4wd vehicles. But i live in south Florida now. so obviously i have no need for 4wd. i now own a 08 4dr wrangler x unlimited 2wd. i love my jeep, and have only ever owned a wrangler. so, i don’t get the hang-up on 2wd. anything i’ve come across, even up in Indiana in my parents 1 mile mud driveway, my jeep has went right through it. so for all you 2wd owners, it doesn’t make it any less of a jeep. i also have enough mods, that i’ll hook chains in any bog with any jeep, and know i’ll hold my own. :) if you’ve never been to the badlands, i suggest you check it out at badlandsoffroad.com

i’m not saying i prefer one to the other, but 4wd and 2wd both have their places. equally

Mud... Speed is what you need to get through the slop. What about wash-outs, ruts and rocks? If you get stuck with one of your rear wheels off the ground in a 2wd Jeep, your done. Jeeps earned their rep from their 4wd vehicles, and I agree with the OP that a 2wd Wrangler is a disappointment. I trust that Chrysler did their research and found a viable market for the 2wd, so I can’t fault them for making something in demand. It’s just sad that there IS a demand. Not hating on your vehicle, bro, but I would’ve gone 4wd. That said, we can meet near Savanna, hook up the chains, and I’ll drag you anywhere I want you to go. Why? I’ll have the most traction. One!
