I think we on the Left in Oklahoma need to get our heads (and bodies) together and forge a real alliance: Improve communication between activists and groups, work on developing a plan for progressive empowerment in communities across the state, build better coalitions between labor, environmentalists, peacemakers and social justice advocates.

Oklahoma is perceived as conservative, but there is a strong populist tradition that is still there to be tapped. But big business, big media, and the corrupt politicians they buy off have maintained control for too long and people feel disempowered and apathetic. But they need hope, inspiration, and the ability to see different possibilities.

It's up to us to organize ourselves and rally the MAJORITY of Oklahomans who are disenfranchised, the working poor, those one paycheck or major illness away from disaster, exploited labor, women losing their rights, glbt, students and the simply disgusted by politics as usual -- to form a mass movement that will remake Oklahoma.

Please feel welcome to use this tool, and others I'm building at okprogressive.net, to advance our cause, to reach out and support each other's work, and to make being a progressive in Oklahoma, the rational and natural and majority view!
