We got a field to play our league games on. The old soccer complex downtown by the river. So that should be good. Other than that, below is an application for sponsorship for our games this year, hopefully we don't have to pay a whole lot for games this year, read the application, copy it, paste it, print it, then give it to any business you may think will sponsor us. Sponsorship Letter
Mission Statement: To serve the Dubuque area Ultimate community, representing the interests of the sport and players. To maintain the Spirit of the Game as the central governing principal of the sport. To promote the growth and the development of the sport of Ultimate. Provide a safe alternative atmosphere for kids high school, college, and beyond for fun team-based activities.
What is Ultimate Frisbee?: Ultimate is a sport resembling both basketball, soccer, and football where there are two endzones and the players on the same team try to catch the frisbee in their endzone. There are seven on a team, there are plays to run and there are rules most often called by the players in correspondence with “Spirit of the game.”
What is Spirit of the Game?: Spirit of the game is when all fouls and penalties are called by the players to encourage fair play and good sportsmanship. In calling your own fould players display humility and the ability to knowingly play fair without worrying about being caught by a referee. Instead by their own honor system they abide by the rules.
The Breakdown: This is the first year of the DIUFL and we have enough teams to play a small league. We have worked out a schedule with the Dubuque Park & Rec. playing down at Mcalees park Friday and Saturdays.
What We Need: Any amount of contribution you can allow would be greatly appreciated. To pay the fees for field use it costs $40.00 a week to have games going both Friday and Saturday evenings. If we do that for our 9 weeks we hope to play that leads to $360.00 alone for grounds fees. Or else you could also sponsor a single team which will get your logo on every shirt for the team. There are seven people on a team, and a shirt with logo printed on will be about $18.00 per shirt, which makes $126.00 per team for shirts. If you want to sponsor a team we ask for any amount from $50.00 all the way up to the full amount. It is your decision, if you pay the full amount, you will be the only logo, if you pay only part, you may share shirt space with another.
