What is some thing that you hate when you go to a haunted house? Like I hate workers that just stand there and go BOO! That pisses me off. Or a room with 60 glowing maskes and 1 of them is a real person.... that room it over done. Stuff like that, what do you hate?

I hate haunts that don't train their people how to scare people...I hate the ones who just get up in your face, or shake a can of beans at you. I also hate when haunts have a line going through the haunt, it makes it impossible to scare anyone that way.

I'm also tired of the 3d mazes...I'm so tired of the 3d mazes that try to be funny.

As someone who has done a Haunted House for a LONG TIME, I TRULY HATE when a place has 10 year old (or people that aren't trained on how to do it) running chainsaws! PLEASE STOP! YOU'RE DISGRACING THE REST OF US! Nothing could be worse than seeing someone come up to you with a chainsaw who physically has to ASK, "Aren't you scared?" No jackass, I'm not, not by the chainsaw or your acting anyhow. The only thing I'm scared of is contracting whatever strain of pimples it is that are forming a colony on your 10 year old un-intimidating face. Please go watch Sesame Street or something and take notes... Big Bird creeps me out more than you do. Thanks.

Some actors us such items called rattle cans. Rattle cans are just a tin can with rocks, bearings, or hard beans in them. They can be effective. I have seen Ben armstrong, the owner of Netherworld use them more than once.

I really don't like the chain saw guy...The haunted house I work at does a good job of changing up the gag, but I still think it's over done.

chainsaw are good IF you know what you are doing... like I have 2, 1 with the blade on it and 1 without it. now what I did is, got my zombie stuff on and walked around like a zombie dranging the saw with the blade on it. (leting the people see that there is a blade on it) then I fell on the ground droping the saw under something like a table or some thing to hide it, but heres the thing, thats were I put the 2ed saw (WITH OUT the blade on it) grap that one stand up real fast and start it, then run after them till they shit them selfs! That was one of the best things that I have done. Scared them every time. its all about mind tricks, people think "O there is no blade on that." thats why they are not scared of it, but if you show them there is one on it.... its a whole new ball game. (kids dont try this at home!) lol

Thats a good idea but what is better or more noticable is what i did last year. You ahve a shack with two people inside. I had one person is regular clothes that was never seen and one in costume, each person had a chain saw. one with a chain one without. the shack had one of those bar locks you know in like midevil moves when they bar the huge door to castles. while you just need a ton of wood to stick in there. but anyways the one with the chainsaw witht he chain cuts bar on the door while the other started the music and started his chainsaw. then the one in costume with the chainsaw runs out and people see the door get cut with wood chips shooting down from the bar and then a person running at them with a chainsaw in hand it looks real believable (just make sure the peson who cuts the door isnt seen)

Haunted houses are so predictable anymore... they do the same ol' same ol'... Haunters need to think outside the box, play on people's actual everyday fears. My friend is terrified of snakes... if she hears or see's a snake she'd be running in a second! I think the movie Arachnophobia was great at showing how a phobia or "natural fear" can be your worst fear.

Better not come to one of mine then. I have snakes hidden throughout that you don't really see at first. When you walk by they're rigged with an air hose to hiss and spit air at you. When you here the sound and feel the air you look to see where it's coming from and notice a large snake near you.

I was tripped by a kid in a haunted house a few years back... it was a maze lined with black trash bags with slits in the bottom... one of those little bastards stuck a broom handle out of the bottom... now just the the hell was that about? No thought at all. It was bad on such fucking levels. Oh, and spagetti. I have paid more times in my life to see bloody spagetti... it's a sad day when you are having more fun in the line then in the actual house or 'horror'.

So I guess...Ugly...and just people who don't know what they are doing or why they are there. I've acted in haunted houses... it's not that fucking hard people.

i hate the ability to trace projections or special effects!! that's why i've joined this group. all the "same old thing" can be renovated - i've done it. the consistant predictable haunt can be redesigned to bring new prespectives. why not scare them after they think they should have been scared or just let them scare themselves - works wonders!! problem is to be able to design without being dissected by patrons - they can not figure out how things have been put together!! i guess that's the challange i hate and also love - that's why i love to design and see where i can take it and what i can pull off!! I hate when they actually smack you ro pinch you because you don't act scared. Or get to close to your face with something. I really loved Knotts Scary Farm this year, but the one chick was over zealous and grabbed at my arm, pinching me. Anopther was waving something about that hit my glasses - damn glad I was wearing the glasses, or that would have been an eye injury for sure.

Dang! I didn't think anybody touched patrons anymore, for liability reasons, if nothing else!
