If you dont’t know what the hell you are voting for DON’T VOTE!!!! ..WE DON"T NEED YOU! If the only reason you vote for a candidate is based off of what they say on TV DON’T VOTE! Don’t think that just becuase you went to college makes you a more informed voter, becuase it doesn’t! If the only reason you are voting is becuase MTV told you to, DON’T! If the candidates on the ballet are just a name, stay home!

Freedom has made every younger generation lazyer and lazyer. You do have an obligation as an American to educate yourself in politics becuase it does effect you and alot of people have died in the name of preserving your ability to vote. Thank You. So many people are voting for one canidate or the other just because they were told to do so. I had some one tell me the other day that I was only a conservative because my parents trained me to be. I was blown away by this statement. This Obama shirt wearing waste of space was so quick to judge but could not argue a single good point in defense of Obama. Also as a side note, My parents are two of the most left wing people out there, I used to clame to be a democrat until I actually took the time to become educated on what was going on in this world. Thanks for writing. You are achieving your goal, to articulate the need to "know what you’re doing and why" instead of being uninformed and lazy.

I have had so many conversations with people who forget that all the other stuff on the ballot is really important too. It can be so boring to read about propositions, but we all pay taxes, and use roads (even if we don’t drive much), and we all care about being safe, drinking clean water, etc.

I have heard a ton of people say they only care about voting about the presidency, and a ton of other people who say they don’t even care about that. I really don’t know how to get through to that mindset, except to say... Every single day we are living the legacies of propositions from past elections!

The commercials are not the way to come to a decision on the propositions. The voter pamphlet is dry-dry-dry but it is way better than the commercials. If all a person can do is listen to some TV ads then they should NOT vote on the propositions! 30 seconds of spin is not the way to form any kind of informed opinion.

Anyway, no matter what your personal leanings are, you did a nice job. :)

Okay here is my two cents!

First off, is there an easy fix to the USA’s problems? NO!

Do some government programs need to be revised? YES!

Is Social Security a pain to get even if you have a disability? YES!

Does everyone in the US get treated fairly? NO!

Also if you do not vote, don’t complain about the results!

Upper class? White? This is deffinently stupid. If you think that the only problems we have now are money you’ll be blown away by the crap Obama is going to put us through. He plans on taking your money and spreading your wealth! So the fat lady that lives next door and doesn’t work for a dime and collects welfare. Yeah, she’ll be thanking Obama for your check! He’s going to take everyone in Americas hard earned money put it to together and spread it, still unevenly thoughout the country. It wont always be ’if your poor you’ll get more." If you’ve never worked for anything your entire life because you live off of the government and our taxes, then I can understand you voting for Obama... all the moochers are doing it. Think before you vote or not at all.

FYI---Voting is an American Right, and people SHOULD exercise that right. Even if I vote for the "wrong" candidate, I at least cared enough to do something to promote change or keep things the same. Anyone who doesnt vote should not complain about the state of the union later on. By telling people not to vote you are saying that their opinion does not count and they are not intelligent enough to make an informed descision as to who they would like to see fill a political office. By underestimating the intelligence of the American people you are underestimating yourself. In fact its people who share your opinion on voting who frighten me, why should I leave my fate up to you. Regaurdless if I screw up and the rest of America follows, at least we did it together instead of letting a few people decide.

I agree, and I also think that Amanda is wrong in some ways, not entirely, voting is extremely important and everybody should do it, but everybody should also research stuff before they vote. Second, I think that Americans are becoming more demographically equal, but it takes time, [as far as race and gender], seeing that we now have an African American President.

It’s hard to make things equal in some peoples minds with those kind of statistics.

And as far as inequality goes with that, women are mostly being cheated.

Also, just because some people abuse things, doesn’t mean it should be ruined for everyone else. Some people really do abuse welfare and things like that, but there really are a lot of people who need it to survive.

I think you should of revised your remark before claiming "that was the most stupidist thing you’ve ever heard". But I suppose that was an insensitive remark to call out your stupidity as well, but hey, you could always change that. Ofcourse people will always stereo type those who recieve wellfare and SSI. I have, I won’t lie but I do know people who are on it, why they are on it and how easy it is to "ride the system". So yeah, I can feel the fustration of the tax payer like myself. Granted, the social systems we have in place today are designed to take care of those generally on a tempoary basis....... some long term due to certain cirumstances. The amount of abuse that goes on from free loaders is absured, as if the "government" owes them something. In other words.... the tax payer. That is a horrible mentality to have. My apologies that your mom is the fat lady on welfare, for all we know it could be a serious medical problem. Still doesn’t change the fact that many people out there abuse the system, I see it; I hear about it often. That takes away from people like your mom who possibly need the assistance long term. But for all we know your mom could have brought this situation upon herself, maybe she was lazy and didn’t want to lose weight. Maybe she was a drug abuser in the past and is so mentally far gone she can’t physically take care of herself or provide a proper after school grammar/spelling lesson for you. The possiblities are endless. I’m not rich by any means, I don’t come from a well off family. As we speak I’m seeing my parents drown in their own debt(granted it was their own doing), my father is with out a job, has been for a while. My parents aren’t walking around with their hands out, head down and demanding the government fix their problems now. They are actually taking active measures to improve their situation. I work 2 jobs to keep my house, I was one of those lucky ones that got to get into a house during the housing boom. I came close to losing my house a couple of times last year because my partner lost her job. We couldn’t afford groceries, we could afford bills....... that’s it. Your family isn’t the only one who’s gone or going down that hard road sweet heart so crying like your family is some sort of victim isn’t going to help the situation. I’m assuming you’re still in school....... how you’ve manage to make it as far as you have is beyond me. I do hope you don’t actually speak or write papers like this in real life because you will soon find yourself going down the same path as your mother (maybe not the fat part, I don’t know). But basically being the ball and chain attached to the tax payers ankle because you didn’t strive hard enough to be a better person. For my final thought on this, I saw that you wanted to throw race into this whole matter........ where you were going with it is beyond me, I couldn’t quite understand what you were typing.
