Americans need to wake up. A strong nation requires an environment to foster and protect family and the middle class, e.g. good education, affordable health care, salaries that could support having children. With the predatory like direction of big corporations lobbying Washington and having Washington sleeping with them to serve both self interest, I don't think we will ever be in the top 10 nations.

I'm afraid you're right. To change direction, one the primary steps is to recapture broadcast media from the Corporate Elitists. Without unbiased reporting we can never derive the mass to effect the Up-Armoring of our Democracy, and the myriad of needed changes you've mentioned.

I'm tellin ya' the Taipei Times is the most action packed nespaper I have ever seen, it's got good stories almost every fuckin day, scandalous. I reccomend subscribing to it, it's always a laugh, and you get those stories that aren't covered in North America, even though they may be ABOUT North America.

yea, my brazillian friends said it is common to see advertisement in the newspaper to upgrade your vehicle to protect from machine guns like folks here do to pimp up their cars.
