Just finished Funky Forest. Fairly mind-shattering. Reluctantly I have to say I think the cel-animated scenes are the weakest. The gym class scene and the pikko-rikko scene might be the best movie scenes ever. As I've told Nick, I'm convinced that there are a bunch of threaded connections in the movie in spite of the non-sequitor-ness of it all ie. Pikko Rikko sounds a lot like Picnic-ku ("pikko-niko"). And that demon mask is in several scenes.

the most amazing thing is that the pattern continues/begins/elaborates in Ishii's other films. Mind boggling!
