one year ago today
seems just like yesterday.
i woke up with that dread,
and couldnt shake the feeling
till i realized,
that it was spence who was almost dead.
i read the news and couldnt believe what it said.
how in the world could this wonderful man,
be so close to dead.
not a day goes by that i don't think about or cry,
for the friend who had to die.
for all our freedom he sacrificed his life.
without ever having children or a wife.
it seemed so wrong to take him.
a man who would do more, give more or share more,
than any i ever met. and because of that,
it is the man, the friend, the soldier,
spencer akers i will never forget.
